Right out of Swofford's mouth:

1.) A 16th team will not be added. He was succinct and adamant on this point.

2.) Revenues--The break down is 80% football/20% other sports. And ND will get a 1/15 share of the 20%. (And keep all of their NBC money, of course.)

3.) ND is in the bowl mix, and can be chosen ahead of a full conference member who has one more win. There was some gobbledygook in there about which team has the higher ranking, etc., but that was unclear to me.

4.) ND may be the ACC opponent in the Orange Bowl on occasion. The splitting of the money from the Orange and all other bowls was confusing to me, but I do think he said ND gets to keeps all of the revenue if they are in a BCS-level game other than the Orange.

And, take if for what it's worth, Swarbrick said the move was "revenue-neutral" for the Irish.

ND has been given a life boat for their programs. If and when ND decides it has to join a conference for football the easiest thing will be to join the ACC.

Without ND assisting the BE with Comcast/NBC the BE is hosed.

As for the Bowl stuff - my recollection was this:

The Orange Bowl deal is for ACC football teams only, meaning that the deal is the same as it was when announced and ND gets no part of that bowl money. This is a plus. ND could potentially be the opponent, odd as that may be. I didn't catch the BCS money part but it would make sense that the money dealings would be the same for those as well.

As for the other Bowls - ND gets included in the mix for selection but cannot be selected ahead of someone if they have two less wins - they can be picked with a one win difference however (as you said). This is what we have been dealing with in the BE.

Comcast still needs content. The value of a contract with the Big East probably just went down, but ESPN may still want to hold on to the basketball portion and may help bid the contract up somewhat. Who's next in line for the Big East to fill ND's spot? Tulane?

Queue the "VaTech over Syracuse for the Gator Bowl" scenario. Getting hosed on that bowl invite hurt. Now it's going to happen to some unfortunate ACC team in the next few years.

Should also get the ACC at least one additional bowl though, which is the flip side. Excuse me, Mr. Swofford...You have the Pinstripe Bowl on line 1.

We were 2 wins better than VaTech that year. Big East actually changed the rule after that debacle. So that won't happen in the ACC either.

To paraphrase...The devil is in the gobbledygook.
