GMAC getting asked about Red

And plenty players who didn't coach for him right but are coaching now? Jason Hart, Ryan Blackwell... I'm sure there are others.
Don't forget get the amazing Herman (helicopter)Harried.
I think he is the AD now at Lake Clifton HS in Baltimore if I'm not mistaken.

I also contend he’s be a good fit at Penn State. He’s a known commodity for their fan base and nothing gets their few basketball fans going.

(I sat next to some big Penn state boosters at our Philly game earlier this year and all they wanted to talk about it was Gerry).

Penn State basketball is where careers go to die. The chances of anyone succeeding there is negligible - getting kids to go to college in the middle of nowhere with less recognition than the wrestlers and hockey players is an impossible sell. I would be incredibly disappointed if anyone I liked took that job.

There is not a human being on the planet who is a “good fit” for head coach at Penn State unless it’s a guy trying to eke out a couple more paydays before retirement. Gerry isn’t that guy.

Hope you're right. There is few programs- all sports- I root against. These clowns are at the top.

Have you seen Nebraska hoops lately?

I don't care about JB's coaching tree. I care about the chip, the final fours, the wins.

The only reason the coaching tree is impacting us is because we hired Red.

JB doesn't lose any cred because he doesn't have half a dozen big time coaches that he had on staff.

Also, give him his wins back.

Don’t care.

1) Nebraska wrestling is top 10. They don’t have 12 national championships in the last 15 years. Massive difference with a gap that can’t be closed. It’s difficult to comprehend how big wrestling is at Penn State - Syracuse at its lacrosse peak was still nothing like it.

2) Pegula (basically) built a state-of-the-art hockey facility, and they made the Frozen Four last year. Their facilities are unreal.

Basketball plays in a dump, and there’s no cache to being a hoops player on campus. It would require a Final Four or at least Elite Eight to even get a passing glance from anyone in State College.

If Penn State built a new basketball arena so they weren’t obviously second class citizens on campus compared to wrestling and hockey - they’d have a chance to do what Nebraska is doing right now. While NIL can close a gap fast - you need to have infrastructure to get in that game. Penn State doesn’t have that. Plus they have two winter sports that are bigger on campus than basketball, which is a situation no other college in the country has. There is close to 0.0% chance anyone will succeed at basketball at Penn State. Best case is doing what Shrewsberry did, sneak into the NCAA tourney and leverage that into a better job. But it’s hard to pull that off.
