Golsten another potential transfer?

Chip Kelly has moved on apparently.

I cannot imagine any 5th-year QB at these programs coming to Syracuse given our offensive hysterics and lack of a proven offensive mind at the top. Marrone getting Paulus fit that criteria.

We'd have better luck of a kid at Villanova having a fifth year eligible and wanting to move up. Or a Drew Allen which, you know, is what it is.

yea I mean he's going to stay at ND and fight for job I bet. Prob not best for character sake to up and leave when still got a lot of snaps tonight.

Paulus of course fell into his own category.

Obviously no comparison to Golson or the present SU situation in any sense.

Any QB who has talent and willing to come play 1 year at Syracuse should be explored by our coaching staff. While Braxton Miller is out of our league because of the schools already involved. Golson is a SC kid I would wonder if the ole ball coach would kick the tires at South Carolina. If he would consider SU we would be stupid not to explore it.

This thread is dumb, I can't come up with the right adjective so dumb fits we'll

Why's that?

I didn't say for a particular school, and it's just a question, not a prediction or assertion.

5th year guys moving on is a relatively new phenomenon. For programs like Syracuse it should always be considered.

Hey, what time is SU' snext game?

I mean it's clearly dumb to ask if SU should go find a 5th yr QB after the stellar QB play we've seen the last two seasons. Why would a staff coming off a 3-win season want to find the best possible players?

No.

More that if you are coming out of Ohio St or ND, coming to Syracuse is a fractional probability unless HCSS have either of those HCs a spleen or something. Little to sell to them pragmatically in terms of true weapons upfront or out wide.

Playing time-plain and simple. No 5th-yr guy with NFL aspirations wants to be part of a QB Spring competition and chance that they end up a back-up.

Oh and this little thing about playing home games in a Dome.

Playing time means squat if it does not lead to improvement. Otherwise, they should just turn pro after this year.

Plenty more attractive situations than Syracuse for a 5th-yr QB. P-l-e-n-t-y.

Maybe so, but you won't get any of these guys if you don't try. Not every 5th yr guy is going to walk into a top 25 team and be handed the job. How did going to Bama work out for Coker this year?

Plenty of schools already have qbs

If Golsten came to SU no coaches would get a good evaluation on him...he would probably just fumble and throw interceptions every practice...seemed to be the case when they played...

not sure that last few words were to troll me or what... He's not a 5th year guy either would be his 4th at nd next year

I thought I heard on the game that he was a senior, that's what prompted the question.

ND lists players by academic year, not football eligibility.

Golson is a senior in college and is on course to graduate in May.

He has one more season of eligibility left. He would be a fifth year senior next year.
