I step away from the board for a couple of days and all hell has broken loose. The Cali of the breadbasket is freaked out, someone else is totally disgusted.

Two things: first, you can either freak out now due to the rumors flying around on the Internet, or you can freak out after signing day. The latter is probably the more rational day to do so. Second, since it's been a decade or so, I'll try to remind you that this is completely normal when you are recruiting better players and competing against the big boys. You don't think that Michigan is worried they might lose two or three kids? Or the Cal program losing several recruits at the last second?

We may not win every battle, but I take this as a sign recruiting is getting better.

agree... People act like DM isn't doing anything. Imagine putting amazing time and resources into recruiting someone like Wayne Morgan, only to lose him at the last second. For as painful as it is for us, it must be torture to the coaches. It will be what it will be. No amount of whining by us will change that. Check back on the 1st.

The only good point I have read lately lately is by phat that said it can be assumed that a lack of continuity in coaches, especially LB's and DL could be why we are seeing certain players look around. That makes a lot of sense. Now DM has the right to fire people, but needs to have a strong system of communicating with his recruits who committed to those coaches. No more Ray Rice incidents if we can help it.

People who freak out about the whims of 18 year olds deserve every bit of agita they're feeling.

we aint michigan-we only get a few real good ones-everyone lost will hurt

IF we do lose the top kids whats left of this class?

its not like our second choice kids are on the same level as michigans-we will have to turn kids that akron and miami of ohio recruited

If my daughters had they'd be boys. My point is that most schools have kids taking visits elsewhere - it's normal. Relax, you could make a cup of coffee nervous right now.

It would be a nice bit of news to hear that we're trying to flip another school's commitment in these last days, but we're really only hearing about other schools trying to flip our commitments.

Did you miss the news about the decommit from Georgia?

How do you know we aren't?

How do you know we aren't?

And who cares if we are not...the bigger schools that have wiffed on commits are now scrambling after whoever they can get..

Yup, I heard about that player. I'm not trying to add to the anxiety here. I'm just saying that we're seeing tweets about Orange commits supposedly taking more visits and supposedly showing more interest in other schools. We're not hearing so much about SU doing that.
That doesn't mean that it's not happening. It seems unlikely that SU is able to do this in secret but all these other schools are not.
I'm not talking about slitting my wrists over this. It's just a downer that we don't have better news to report.

We don't hear about the positives because many on this board heart the drama and tend to draw things out way longer than they need to be. Lorazepam.

My biggest concern is not that we have recruits visiting other places and are being pressed to flip in the final weeks of the season that tells me Doug and his staff are actually pretty good and seeing talent early on and getting the to verbal early in the process which gives us an advantage late in the process.

My concern is that we do not seem to be trying to flip people from other BCS type schools? What recruits do we have coming in? Who are we trying to flip besides the guy from FIU or where ever. It seems that once a player is verbal they are off are board which isn't the case at other colleges.

Miami didn't go wait Julian Whigham said he is going to Syracuse lets not try and get him in here. Doesn't seem to bother Missouri to have our kids in for visits. Why do we not have recruits from other big time universities coming in. If not bigger at least equal to us and bring those kids in and see what happens.

Because the big fish eat the little fish, not the other way around.
We would have to go after the kids committed to Buffalo or Akron or Portland State.

Rutgers and Missouri are not big fish.

Exactly. As a great man once said "get a life".

Did you mention Rutgers? Miami, Penn State, and Missouri are bigger fish than the Orange in the recruiting food chain. These are the teams guys trying to get into play with our recruits, while we get visits from one guy committed to Florida International.

The funny thing is if you visit the ex-gf site 2 of the top 4 articles are "Whigham fully committed to Cuse" and "Manley may not take other visits after all".

We lost a Florida kid to a school closer to home. Better for him to figure that out now vs after we have a scholarship used on him. Wonder if Owens decommitting is the reason we started paying more attention to Glanton? Coaches may not be caught off gaurd by any of this.

serious question then, in your opinion, when all the smoke clears, why do you think we get out recruited by rutgers every year??we have had our head in the sand way to long. arrogance and denial are dangerous things.
