I don't think I've ever seen tackles get more outplayed. I'm not suing devito was good or didn't make his own mistakes or isn't a concern but my god. Clemson crumpled us without sending many guys most of the time. I know some will say this is why we need an athletic QB but mcnabb wasn't saving them, resembled the 98/99 orange bowl

“without sending many guys most of the time”???

Were you watching the same game I was?

It seemed like they sent multiple guys from many different places almost every down (although most often STRAIGHT UP THE MIDDLE).

In fact, both announcers kept commenting on that, how Venables would mix up the blitz schemes so we never knew where the overload would come from.

There were a number of times they only rushed 4, sometimes added 5 and they still abused us. Either take is correct.

They drew up a ton of exotic blitz people packages, and our inexperienced OL and QB had a lot of trouble picking them up.

The check downs were open a bunch, and Tommy will see that on film. Look what happened when he found his dump offs to Moe Neal a few times.

I would have liked to see the WR screen game more involved to get those safeties out of the box or catch them in a few of those blitzes.

The reality is that is the most talented Clemson team we have played thus far - probably the best back 7 in the country, and talent all over the ball.

Really hoping Heckel gets healthy so we can get our best until back out there.

greatest line ? that may have been last year. 3 first rounders selected in the draft.
as pointed out last night they adapted to the loss of those 1st rounders with a new LB back 6 package.

Sorry, that's my fault for how I wrote it. Didn't mean that they didn't blitz, I meant that even when they didn't, they still crumpled us most of the time. I agree that they confused it's a lot too

Meant to say that when they didn't send a lot of guys, the line crumpled most of the time.

I blame my phone. I would have reacted the same as you

the pocket curtain is composed of aluminum foil not steel and they punched thru it like a jiffy pop piñata.

I know you're usually really keyed in, but my understanding is that this isn't happening.

Consistently rushed at least 5 and we insisted on staying in 5 wide instead of going to some max protect scheme on obvious passing downs. And the way our ground game is going virtually every snap is an obvious passing down.

Those LBers where the real issue. 11 was in the backfield when the ball was snapped on most plays.
