Gottlieb

I just added it to OTL facebook wall. I hate how they twisted that situation. I'm still mad about it

No he didn't if you listen to the interview Dan Patrick made the comments regarding Bernie.

And if true, we can't go after them - our bread is buttered on the ESPN side.

I hope CBS has the jaws of life to pull him back out.

Just finished John Feinstein's memoir "One on One". He has nothing good to say about ESPN. Boil it down to his view that they are in the entertainment biz, not the journalism biz.

(BTW - a very interesting read, despite the fact that the '87 Indiana win and Navy's win in the tourney against us get prominent mention.)

I will file this under crap I already knew was true. The fact it came from someone who hates Syracuse makes it even more credible though. 5-10 years ago I would watch ESPN 24-7 but I don't watch it at all anymore aside from sporting events and occasionally listening to Bilas talk about college hoops. I watch the MLB network all the time but I don't think I've watched sportscenter or baseball tonight once in the last 3 years. I think the way they handled the Adam James thing and actually gave his dad on air time to tell his side of the story without being questioned was the end for me. After that you are fox news.

Agree espn has sold out.

Can't stand the fox news attack though.
There are more democrats invited as guests on fox news that push their one sided agenda then there are republicans that do.
And thats on a republican channel. Just like Romney saying 85% of his cabinet was democrat in Mass, meanwhile obama was pushing " only his philosophy" last night which is more assinine, but Romney is the bad guy.

Agree on espn though. I felt through the years they have treated syracuse badly at times. They really trashed us last year.
I always thought there was some hidden agenda from Sportscenter being in conn and syracuse being a great media school.
They always dealt with our highlights in weird ways, and it was enough to notice. People can say its crazy but there was always slight undertones.

I wasn't trying to start a political debate. Fox News has a perspective they want to perpetuate and I'm totally fine with that. MSNBC is the same way on the other side. I was more stating that ESPN has their point of view such as Leach being wrong and their commentators son being right and they hammered that home. When you do that you are not a news outfit you are a media group presenting your point of view which is what Fox News is and what ESPN has become in my opinion. I believe your comment about fox news guest is wrong and totally disagree. 9 out of 10 guests are republican and they all have far right views, again this is totally fine it wasn't meant as a slight but that is the reality. I don't think Romney is a bad guy at all, I just wish he could be clear on what he will do as president and what he thinks. Until last night I thought he was going to cut taxes but I learned that is not the case. Regarding Syracuse I think one of the problems we run into is that so many people on ESPN went there and I think there is a sense of I want to be impartial and it's done to a point we are almost held to a different standard. Much of the stupid crap that comes out about Syracuse I think comes from the Post Standard and not ESPN.

"Tommy, PLEASE tell me you got that on tape?"

original.

It was actually Dan Patrick, who said the quote about ESPN losing its credibility, not Gottlieb.

You weren't trying to start a political debate... But you just had to be trendy and take a shot at Fox News & Republicans. Now I can understand why you might NOT want to start a debate. You see just like on the big screen last week... in debate, it's always good to have the facts on your side. A debate with FACTS is so far the only thing THE AGENDA DRIVEN MEDIA couldn't spin all year. I'm not saying the following applies to you, but I'm sick of zombies spewing rhetoric.

I feel terrible for people who don't understand what's really happening to our country right now. They are just sheep following the herd... following the mainstream media into an assured financial collapse of the dollar within 10 years. Amazing how stupid people can be, we are CURRENTLY watching the GLOBAL economic collapse of every socialist leaning government. This country is in trouble and the liberal media would rather their guy wins, even if it means the country irrevocably harmed.

Can people admit what is happening in the world, and right in front of their face? Instead they just repeat a cliche's that their cool professor, or intelligent friend or what they hear while changing channels on the way to MTV.

The fact that you bring up Fox News when talking about bias in the media, really shows a lack of understanding of what mainstream media is. Fox news is the sole media outlet that doesn't get their talking points from the DNC and they are brought up constantly. Fox has news and opinionated discussion shows, their news shows are real news and their opinion based programs have strong opinions. The major networks and almost every newspaper outlet prints in-accuracies and slanted opinion as NEWS! Network television is supposed to provide news and not agenda driven discussion posing as news.

If I worked in the journalism field, I'd be embarrassed regardless of my opinion. This presidents policies and their complete failure have forced the major networks to put the nail in the coffin on Journalism. It makes me sick to my stomach. The coverage of this President by network news and most newspapers is embarrassing.

It is always nice to have ones friends recognized as uniformly intelligent. I know that they would recognize that a lower dollar makes American goods and services more competitive in the global market (where it counts).
I will leave the low hanging Foxfruit for one of our many excellent Journalism graduates.
