continuing along with the 12 yr deal with the Orange bowl tie in is a few facts that you may not know (from my NCState Source) 1. ACC champion goes to Orange Bowl --guaranteed every year unless it is in the top four teams and Orange is not a semi game -- If ACC champion is in top four and Orange Bowl not a semi, than a second ACC team is guaranteed to go to the Orange Bowl -- If two ACC teams are in the final four, than a third ACC team goes to Orange Bowl --If ACC champion is not in top 4 but Orange Bowl hosting a semi, then ACC champion guaranteed a spot in one of the other top non semi bowls 2. The TV rights to the Orange Bowl are being negotiated by the ACC...in other words, the ACC will own the TV rights and this can be big $$$ for ACC 3. The teams to be contractually partnered with the ACC will be top ranked teams...there may be a kicker for Notre Dame if it is a top 15 team and has not played the ACC Champion and is not a top 4 team, then Notre Dame will be specifically considered; however, there may be a significant pact also signed with other major conferences to possibly get their #2 team if their #1 is in top 4...so the ACC may have either Notre Dame, or #2 or #3 from any of the other big 5 conferences if they are not in the semi games and or in their contract bowls: Rose, Champion, or semis. This is really a big deal and most likely keeps the ACC whole for many years to come...losing teams should not be a concern at this point. 'Cuse really made the right choice...lets get to ACC by July, '13.
