I thought for sure after Trevor's two horrific TOs in a row that lead to Cal run outs that he had earned a seat on the bench, but Jimmy left him in & Trevor played like a man possessed for the rest of the game.

Conversely, one move I did not like by Jimmy was leaving Jerami in when he picked up his 4th foul at the five minute mark with us up ten. I thought he should have sat Jerami for a couple of minutes or at least until they cut the lead to six to make sure we had him for the final stretch in case he was really needed.

Sometimes the best move is the one you didn't make. Now, if we could stop JB from calling that 30 second timeout before the first half...that would be another non move I'd like to see.

SU's last timeout in the first half came with 4:08 on the clock according to the espn.com play by play recap. Is that what you are referring to?

I was hugely surprised by leaving Cooney in as well. Especially when he trotted back on defense when they were streaking to the basket with the ball he just handed them!

Yes, I commented on the Trevor thing last night. But I wondered why he did it? To help him gain confidence, or because he felt he had no alternative?
Doesn't bode well for Gbinje IMO. Better serve as a wake up call. Gbinje is too good, still doesn't look comfy out there in his new role (s). It will come...

Minny and any other time he calls one for the last play of the first half.

We may be splitting hairs here on both these moves. First, TC is good on defense. Second, maybe JB was trying to see if Grant could play late in game with 4 fouls. I think TC was just fatigued and made mental errors. So staying out there will help his conditioning. And I guarantee you the coaches gave Grant several ear fulls about being mindful of the current game situation.

Well we may be going from..., Can Trevor average 8 points a game? to Is Trevor the best shooter in the Country? Trevor is playing too good to take him out over a couple of turnovers.

Pretty sure he only does that with his "use it or lose it" timeout.

I'd rather lose it Frozen, just because it's there doesn't mean you have to use it. IMO...it takes away a nice rhythm the offense has going and again to me sometimes a better non coaching move to not use it.

Can we say he isn't a good passer? ;)

I have a feeling that cooney like triche before him beats himself up more than JB ever could and JB knows it. A timeout was called after cooney's 2 TO's and from that point on he scored 14 points in the last 12 minutes of the game. Whatever was said or maybe more importantly what wasn't , sure worked.

Yep, confidence is a funny thing Cherie and it's amazing what you can do when you have it and what you do if you don't.

We'll agree to disagree.

That's fine. I'm a flow guy when it comes to Football, basketball and beer. When they are flowing, I don't stop them from doing so.

He shouldn't of taken him out anyway, he let him play through his mistakes because sometimes those things happen.

Cooney's more valuable on the court than not. Is there a player in the country who can get their shot off faster with a smaller window of opportunity aka space to shoot then Cooney?

Would love to see some Roberson tonight. Could use his length and hops to help out with rebounding vs Baylor's long dudes. I think vs Baylor the more athletes we can throw out there the better. They aren't a team who execute very well at anything except transition. Having some Roberson out there couldn't hurt, imo.

Cooney's is the best shooter of all the choices Boeheim has from that group of 2's. I would like to know from anyone that's seen the practices who is the second best shooter and how well he does from the rest of the 2 guards.

He has said as much.

So what happens if he loses it? Does he lose the right to use one in the second half? No... Sorry...it just amazes me that if you have something going you stop it just because you have a TO. I can see sometimes but to no matter what just because it's there just isn't sound logic to me. I love JB but this is just not something I agree with. Watch the games and just be aware of the situations and see how effective it really is. I know it's Frozen that I was conversing with but all I ask is watch and see with an open mind.

I think Cooney has much more confidence in himself than Brandon did. If trevor can drive 2-3 times a game and make that pull up floater part of his game.. holy smokes. Those 3's off inbound plays were a thing of beauty. I have a feeling he is going to haunt the ACC like Gerry did the big east and somewhat like Redick did.

What you also have to know is that many times the play that he calls in that situation is not only used to score, but also used to set up a play late in the game, should it be needed.
I remember reading that Craig Forth was taken out of a game becasue in the middle of a called play, he took and made shot. JB reamed him out becasue he was counting on the play that he had called to be in the minds of the defense should he need a play at the end of the game, because reaction to the first play would leave the 2nd play wide open.

In fairness to Cooney, the second turnover came from a guy running from behind and sliding in front of the intended recipient of the pass when the ball was in the air. It was a good defensive play.

We burned two in the first half yesterday, so we didn't have the choose-it-or-lose-it timeout on our last play. We did against Minnesota and were unsuccessful.

I'd love to see our numbers on that; agree with Bob - I bet we score less than 10% of the time after that late timeout. It's usually some kind of isolation that results in a wild miss.
