SU played well and even when they struggled early in the second half they hung in and ended up with a chance to win late. This team continues to improve and to play through some difficult circumstances. I enjoy watching them play, and I would love to see them find a way to have some success during these final 6 games. If they continue to play together the way they have played recently they can accomplish some things as a team and individually. Rak's leadership is top-notch. Cooney is solid and a crucial player for SU. Gbinije looks very comfortable lately in his role, and his growth is exciting. The younger guys seem to be making fewer mistakes while consistently making more plays, and I think Rak has been a great model for those guys to refer to as they build their games. I enjoyed the work Dan Shulman and Jay Bilas put in last night calling the game. Dan Shulman is a pro. Like Mike Tirico, Shulman always seems to bring a nice blend of enthusiasm, curiosity, and interesting back stories to all sides equally in every sport he calls, and he can also be critical and apply probing doubt when appropriate. I wonder if being a Canuck somehow allows him to be so unbiased all the time, but it' probably something else. I do believe one's cultural identity can be a factor though. In their profession, Shulman and Tirico are at the apex sort of like Lebron James in basketball. Jay Bilas is a supreme talent as a college basketball analyst, and I would compare him to Jeff Van Gundy or Hubie Brown at the pro level although Brown and Van Gundy both have a slight edge because of their head coaching experience. Van Gundy has a slight edge in the humor department as well, but Bilas is making headway fast. I thought Bilas once again handled what has to be an impossible task (calling a Duke game without bias) almost to perfection. Go Cuse!!
