No team is going to score three times at that point, so there is no difference between a 12 and 13 point lead. There is nothing to lose. Exactly. It was actually a game management blunder to not simply go for a 2pt conversion there. Shafer actually mentioned in his presser that if the look wasn't there, they were going to check out of it and just kick it, which would have made me REALLY angry. As you said, the difference between 12 and 13 pt lead w/ 3 min left is nothing. Difference better 13 and 14 is potentially huge. I have NO idea how NC state was fooled on that. They had to know we were going for 2 there. Poor job by both coaching staffs there but at least we did a great job of converting the fake.

I knew they weren't kicking that ball. Just would have made no sense. Can't believe NC State didn't snuff that out. Not that it mattered much ultimately, but put that one on the Doeren staff "what exactly are we doing" list.

Still, it was nice to see it so well executed.

Unfortunately, I think when we're down in close games, people expect things like fake punts/ fake fgs. You gotta use them when you're up, because then they are unexpected.

I'm very disappointed in broyld's tosses in the games. that was supposed to be huge for us!
