It is with great sadness that we have created this e-card for Terrel Hunt who was dealt one of the unkindest fates we have ever seen in Syracuse football. After spending a year recovering from a fractured leg, he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in the first 7 1/2 minutes of the first game of the 2015 season.

Exception for only playing in actually 3 minutes of his senior season. Just saying.

He is not entitled to a 6th year period. He played one too many games last year to qualify.

Signed the card, whole situation stinks. Feel for the kid, was hoping there would be a chance for him to play again.

Basically, you are allowed 4 seasons of participation - even 1 play = 1 season. Hunt's 7 minutes is a season of eligibility.
To get a medical student redshirt or more accurately a hardship waiver, you must not have played in more than 3 games or 30% of the season, whichever is greater. Hunt played in 4 games last year - was injured in the 4th game. If he didn't have bad luck the kid wouldn't have any luck at all.

I think so as well, but I would like to see something official before sending this type of card to a kid in the hospital. Timing if nothing else.
