Somebody in one of the other threads said something about the guards rebounding and not leaking out for fast breaks. I have thought much the same thing all year. Last year JB at times complained that the guards needed to do some more rebounding which was often true. They were leaking out and got the break going. This year, unless it is a an out and out steal up front, SU doesn't seem to get out as much. Long rebounds aren't resulting in fastbreak points. Agasint UConn, they had 18 turnovers but Su didn't seem to be able to capitalize on them, not to mention long rebounds. The guards seem to be instructed to help rebound. Here are the stats, in 37 games last year, the four guards had 311 rebounds, or 8.4 a game. This year, in 24 games, they hav 255 rps or 10.6 a game. Of course a lot has to do with the poorer rebounding by the bigs, which is forcing the gurads to help out. Another part is how many times have you seen Triche or MCW get a bucket of a rebound. That's good but it also means that maybe there was less defensive balance which. All this just is to add some food for thought.
