Gulley coming back?

Nice news to get. I think there is still a role for PTG on this team next year

Not a fan of his in this system. Give me M&M.

How is this possible?

Only played 4 games in 2011 before breaking his collarbone in an "off the field incident".

I was tipped off that Marrone was so pissed at him back then that there would be no hardship application.

Maybe Marrone changed his mind after last year's Pinstripe Bowl, or maybe Shafer filed the paperwork.

Might explain why we haven't been beating the bushes looking for RB recruits this year.

this is crazy

a) no one knows what this system is. throw the ball towards the coaches as fast as you can
b) what system can't PTG play in anyway

Jet sweeps with Gulley don't work. Sure, he's had some gaping holes to run through this year up the A-gap, but that doesn't mean he's a good fit. I'd still like Morris or MacFarlane in there.

And yes, we do know what this system is from the running game's perspective. Passing not so much.

This is actually a huge break for the team. It shores up the RB depth for next year and allows us to only take Erv this year, though I woud still like us to take at least two backs in this class.

i'm just shaking my head at this

Good news in case #45 leaves. I really hope Hickey stays and tries to elevate to a 1st Round or high 2nd round pic. If so, PTG could get himself ready for the CFL. I think he would excel north of the border.

You never can have enough running backs so he is welcomed back. Still IMO M&M > PTG

Gulley is a quality back who can catch the ball as well. Great News !!!! More depth is never bad.

My guess is that next year we have the same RB unit as this year.

Move Broyld to strong safety along side Eskridge, move MacFarland to the mythical H-back position.

I thought Gulley broke his collarbone lifting weights?

I personally don’t see how he got a hardship waiver but whatever.

Doesn't matter how you get injured. Just matters at what point in the season you get injured.

If you play in less than 30% of the games to begin the season, get hurt and can't play any more, all you need to do is document that you are hurt and that you couldn't have come back and you get your redshirt year.

Simple process. And a good one. Not ready to hand the keys fully over to M&M just yet.

I was just thinking that I don't remember Morris being targeted for a pass. Maybe not the best hands? RunDMC yes but not Morris.

Gulley can catch the ball and he is a pretty good open field runner. This can only help us.

Nothing but upside with this ruling. We finally catch a break...

I think the staff should take a Marroneesque approach to the roster like he did when he first arrived and make this offseason the defining one - if guys are eligible to graduate and are seen more as inhibitors than contributors going forward, it's best for everyone that they move on.

Over on the recruiting board I think we settled on having 23 max spots for this class available if we have the roster space - if it's for the better of the team I hope the staff makes the space to take the max kids they can in this class. We need difference makers and we need kids that are physically ready to come in and compete from Day 1.

Couldn't be happier that Gulley is coming back - we need the RB depth and he's a gamer.

Glad he's back. But we now have 3 similar type backs. I'd rather have Smith back.

Also a workout warrior, and it'll be good to have him setting the example for another year.
