One on hand, all three were short on PT experience [especially at LB], so the coaches wanted to force feed them reps to get them ready.  But on the other hand--and the worst case scenario--was that none of the other candidates were positioned to make a move.

I think it's a little from column A and column B, unfortunately.  I think we really need a Wallace, or a Williams, or another guy to step up to help improve the quality of play of the LBs against the run.  If that doesn't happen, we're going to be susceptible all season long to ground and pound.

Please note, I'm not knocking any of the second group.  Players like Williams and Shy [in particular] and Wallace have made a big impact on special teams, on a unit that is exponentially improved in coverage.
