Hakim Warrick - Taken #9 in G League Draft

2018 NBA G League Draft Board - NBA G League

Does this count as a first round draft pick for Syracuse players?

Good luck to Hakim but...

Kid from LeMoyne taken in 3rd round.

Besides keeping in shape with the hope of a possible callup could this possibly increase his NBA pension/benefits?

Interesting question.

You qualify for the pension after 3 years and max out at 11...he played 8.

He hasn’t played in 5 years, was he hurt for 1 of them which counts for 9?? Not sure what 10 would do for him unless he anticipates playing again next year??

If that is his plan it makes sense. If you are going to play might as well maximize your compensation, which long term this likely does. From the sounds of things he hasn’t been a huge spender. No huge houses, lived in apartments when he made his way around the league.

Most of the list is midmajor college players with a few former NCAA stars mixed in but noone of NBA significance until you scroll down and see who Mr Irrelevant is... its DeJuan Blair lol who played in the NBA for a pretty long time.

Hakim probably likes playing basketball more than golf and he looked good at TBT so why not? Its probably a lot cooler and more fun doing this a few years removed than if he went the G league route once the calls from the NBA stopped coming and was really pushing for a call up. He still might get one. They probably want him on the team in a leadership role I can't imagine G league teams have a big budget for the coaching staff and he'll be making more than an assistant would and playing some.

Probably right.
The Delaware GM is an old NBA rival of sorts...Elton Brand.
So he probably does think Hak can contribute beyond what he does during games.
Maybe it's even an opportunity to get a little front office insight.
