Would Boeheim be willing to consider bringing in an established defensive guru as an asst who can completely revamp the D as a half measure between being replaced and continuing with the same failing system? It lets him remain but firmly begin the Syracuse transition. Could Wildhack mandate that?

I know the idea sounds crazy but it allows both sides an off ramp if they want one.

how about an offensive wizard while we're at it?
And special teams too.

We suck at everything.

And JAB is one of those "I alone can fix this" sorta guys, so no -
this idea is DOA even before you typed it.

Total housecleaning, period.

I get that. So if JW went to him and said bring in a defensive coach or we need to replace you, he would resign?

That probably is the most likely outcome, just throwing it out there.

The offense is bad too. But I really thing the D is worse.

Defensive guru? Have we not watched the last 4 games?

What assistant at that skill level would put up with it? JB was great because of who he is, and he is having a rough go now because of who he is. It is just that way. It was a legendary run. There is just simply no path to capture what we were again with everything staying the same. That data is in. It isnt a fluke. This is why people retire.

Even if he agreed to it in a meeting, it would be thrown out the first day of practice. His obstinance won't have otherwise, it served him well for decades. Now it doesnt.

I get it.

I sort of knew most would think it a non starter. Just trying to find a way to make this less messy for all. Although maybe that would be worse in the end.

bernie fine rode shotgun as associate HC for 35 years. you think JB listens to assistants ?

The guy completely ignores his assistants during games. Zero chance.
Exactly. It's a good idea in theory, but not in this particular situation. I don't see JB suddenly deferring to someone else on strategy, particularly not 78 year old JB,

Fun fact: Syracuse hasn't finished in the top five of its conference (just top five) in a decade. He needs to go.

I believe it was while Watching the Florida St game that I was amazed that St not only had assistants ON the bench but like 4 more guys sitting right behind the coaches. And during time outs coaches were ALL making points to the HC and the players.

Ya, I mean assistant coach house cleaning is nice. But at the end of the day:

1- JB still won’t go out and recruit. Every other D1 coach is out there recruiting players. Jim doesn’t go. Why would you go to a coach that won’t come to see you when everyone else is.

2- JB won’t let them actually coach. Either that, or they are coaching and we have the worst collection of assistant coaches in the history of Syracuse Basketball.
