Now that the season is halfway over determining the playoff should easier.
Contenders
ACC
Clemson
Florida State
Big Ten
Iowa
Michigan State
Ohio State
Big XII
Baylor
Oklahoma State
TCU
Pac-12
Stanford
Utah
SEC
Alabama
Florida
LSU
Independent
Notre Dame

The 4 playoff teams will come from these 14 schools. Some of them aren't going to make it like Notre Dame, Iowa, Florida, Oklahoma State but they theoretically have a chance. I also don't believe TCU will run the table so unless they do they won't make it either.
Here is how I have it playing out

1. Ohio State vs. 4. Alabama in the Orange Bowl
2. Baylor vs. 3. Clemson in the Cotton Bowl

Just out: 5. Stanford-Pac-12 champ 6. LSU

Other NYS Bowls
Rose Bowl Stanford-Michigan State
Fiesta- Utah-Memphis(G5 team)
Sugar- LSU-TCU
Peach- Iowa-Florida State

I don't see a defense in the Big XII outside of Oklahoma State being able to slow down Baylor. Clemson will have to beat FSU at home and a tricky Duke/UNC/Pitt in Charlotte but should able to do so. Alabama I done betting against. I want LSU to win the SEC but I don't see Bama losing another SEC game and by beating LSU at home they would win the SEC West as I don't see Ole Miss winning out.

Bama will force Harris to beat them and I don't see him being able to do so. Ohio State is going to beat Michigan State at home but Michigan at UM will be their hardest game. Iowa could go 12-0 but whomever wins the Big Ten East will be atleast a TD favorite against Iowa.

If Baylor and TCU don't go 12-0 Kaiser will be right again and I think the Bevo will be shut out again. I will say the same for the ACC as well they need one of Clemson or FSU to be undefeated to make it. As if the ACC and Big XII champs have 1 loss I could see LSU and Stanford both sliding into the playoffs with 1 loss.

It will be very hard to make it this year. Lots of good games late in the season. I think that Clemson & ND have the best shot at making it right now as I don't think either will lose again. I think the SEC champ will make it as well. Everybody else still has at least 2 hard games left. If any of them make it through undefeated then they would make it.

I don't think the committee will put in two teams that have already played unless it was some epic first matchup. Although ultimately a close game, I wouldn't put Clemson-ND in that category.

ND is probably thinking that Clemson continuing to win is the best thing for them. I think the opposite. They need Clemson to lose to FSU and be out of the picture.

You think ND will run the table @Temple(6-0), @Pitt(5-1), and @Stanford(5-1)? I don't see the Irish as a team that will go 11-1. I like Stanford more to win out.

LSU, Alabama, MSU, Baylor

Although no idea what schedules look like so maybe this isn't possible

I think ND is overrated but is better than those teams.

They won't be overrated if they win all three of those games. ND has been killed by injuries if they go 11-1 they will make the CFB playoffs. I just don't think they will win out as they lost at Clemson and played badly at UVA. They have played a lot better at home than in their 2 road games.

Don't think so. Some team will play another great team in a conf champ and will jump ND.

ND at 11-1 is definitely right there for CFB playoffs I just don't see happening. Especially if Big XII has no conference champ undefeated. I would put ND above a 1 loss Big XII champ. Also, it would likely include a win over the Pac-12 North Champion and I would favor Stanford over Utah in the probable Pac-12 title game matchup.

I just don't see ND not stumbling at one of three tough road games left.

I think ND will be hard pressed to win out. But if they do, they will be in the playoff.

I'll go LSU, Baylor, tOSU and Utah, with TCU next runner up.

Just not Saban.
