Hall of Fame manager Earl Weaver dies at age 82

as a baseball fan sad to see also wonder how many arguments him and billy martin get in ?

I remember his unreliable closer, Don 'Full-Pack' Stanhouse. Or was it Dick Stenhouse? or was it Stan Dic...uh, never mind.

So named b/c Weaver couldn't bear to watch him get into trouble and try to wriggle his way out of trouble.

Meaning that Weaver went up the tunnel, and smoked constantly until the crowd reaction told him that Stanhouse had somehow once again pulled a Houdini.

I hope that the MLB Network has lotsa interview footage with Earl. Would make for some great memories.

It's a black day in my house. One of the great characters in baseball when baseball still had characters.
