Maybe Melo is the most generous of the currant players. There was a time when I was posting Melo donations left and right to charities that dealt with disadvantaged children in Denver, NYC, Baltimore and Syracuse. He pitched in with about 500 boxes of food and clothing for hurricane Sandy victims and personally helped in handing them out. I wonder if there is a link that details all of his donations?
Besides the Melo Center donation of $3 Million he gave Syracuse University $500,000
Some of his charitable work includes:
Spokesman for Family Resource Center in Denver
He hosts an annual 3-on-3 tournament, known as “Melo’s H.O.O.D. Movement 3 on 3 Challenge (Holding Our Own Destiny)” in Baltimore
He opened “The Carmelo Anthony Youth Development Center” in Baltimore on December 14, 2006.
The Giving Back Fund a non-profit organization that tracks philanthropic giving worldwide had Melo listed as the 22nd most generous celeb in the world in January of 2012. There were no currant NBA players ahead of him.
He contributed $1.5 million to the Living Classrooms Foundation, a non-profit organization that “provides innovative hands-on-education, job-training and community service programs for over 35,000 children, youth and young adults in the east Baltimore community.”
After the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, Anthony donated $35,000 to relief efforts. He donated $1,000 per point scored against San Antonio and Houston in January, 2005.

Other generous NBA souls:
Former Spartan Steve Smith donated $2.5 million in 1997 to his alma mater Michigan State. The money went toward building a Student Athlete Academic Center which was named for his mother.
Kevin Durant recently pledged $1 million to aid Oklahoma tornado victims.
Former NBA player Dikembe Mutombo is ranked as the most generous athlete in the world after a $15 million donation to spur the building of a hospital in his native Congo.
