He was on the downside of his career when I saw him play, but his greatness was still evident, and my father and others filled in the blanks for me.

He was the reason I loved playing outfield with a hat flying off..

watching him and Aaron playing at Shea in 73 was my first MLB game as a kid.

One of my earliest memories of Willie was this PSA that aired all the time during late afternoon television shows. He kept us kids safe as we were out marauding through the neighborhood.
