I haven't posted for awhile and the weather is giving me cabin fever so I thought I add my two cents about Jim Brown . Earlier today I Googled for the hell of it, "The Greatest Lacrosse Player of All time" and "The Greatest Football Player of all time". Ended up with reading lots of posts about "greatest" including athletes of all time. Fun stuff. In lacrosse lots or support for the Gaits, Powells, Zulberti, Colsey and lots of other familiar names from other great lacrosse programs, as well as, Jim Brown. Same with football. Other posters in football argued that the greatest football players/athletes were Bo Jackson or Dion Sanders. Perhaps few others. Got me thinking about Jim Brown and who is the greatest athlete of all time. Jim Brown was scouted by the Yankees in high school and reportedly offered a contract to play baseball by the Yankees; He was heavy weight boxing champion of SU and Roy Simons Sr. (his boxing and lacrosse coach) felt he could be world heavy weight champion, and he was reportedly offered a boxing contact; He was one of the best basketball players on a national contender. Unfortunately, he refused to play his senior year because of racism, but was offered a pro basketball contract by Syracuse Nationals; He ranked fifth in the nation in the decathlon and qualified for the Olympics, a sport he didn't practice; He was the greatest lacrosse player of his time with incredible stick skills including both a right and left hand to go with insane size, power, balance and speed. Reputedly knocked off his feet just once in his college career; The greatest football player of all time. Period!! Lets recap; offered pro basketball and boxing contracts, try outs with the Yankees, Hall of Fame Football (greatest ever) and Lacrosse (greatest ever) and Olympic class track athlete without practicing. So who else is a contender?
