I was at the Garden. I was of course upset with the officiating. Some of it was infuriating and some was just perplexing (as in ... that was an obvious no-brainer call - what are you doing?). But, they didn't show replays at the Garden, so I tried to factor in that I am a fan and biased when it comes to calls.

But since I got home, everyone who knew I attended and who weren't SU fans have uniformly said the officiating was horrendous and SU got screwed. Even a couple of diehard Kansas fans told me we got hosed.

Folks here get similar reactions from unbiased witnesses to the crime?

Yeah, I've had a few people say it unprompted upon seeing me. The rest either apologized about the game, or asked how we did, and were then forced to listen to a 5 minute tired from me about how the officials *cked the game up.

My experience is that the Ohio St fans are very un-classy ****. While waiting outside the garden I had to deal with lots of overrated chants, Bernie Fine references. One fan in particular took it upon himself to get his drunken face two inches from mine and tell me what he thought of Syracuse and express his man love for Sullinger. His girlfriend finally got in front of him just as I was about to sock him and he walked away.

If I hear "OH... IO!" one more time I'm going to snap. This morning I was greeted to a stranger in my office with an Ohio State shirt on, screaming it as loud as he could. My co workers are

Had a bartender in Boston tell me last night it was the worst reffing he has ever seen and Syracuse got hosed.

One of my friends from Tennessee text me during the game saying we had to beat Ohio st and the refs. Pretty knowledgeable fan that watches a ton of college basketball.

The reaction I got was how could you have expected them to win when they turned it over on 4 of 6 possessions down the stretch regardless of how bad the officiating was? For that, I have no comeback.

A couple of my lunchtime baller friends were talking about the game today. One's a Missouri fan and the other a Terrapin fan. The first thing that both brought up was that SU was lucky that the refs called those two touch fouls on Sullinger in the first 5 minutes, otherwise he would have gone 30/15 against us with the way he was playing and we would have lost by 15-20 points.

They acknowledged a lot of bad calls both ways, including absolute disbelief on the Triche charge. They also thought that Syracuse was called for several questionable fouls over the last 5 minutes, but said that they thought that Dion and Fair both got to the line for several free throws when they clearly weren't fouled. The Missouri fan, who is a very good baller and really understands the game, said he thought that SU lost the game in the later part of the first half when they had 4 straight possessions of taking (and missing) 18 foot jump shots. He thought that SU was the aggressor until that point in the game, and once Ohio St became the aggressor, they started getting more of the calls.

Drove through Ohio yesterday and made a point to try and listen to local sport stations. ALL, and I mean ALL the talking heads. trashed the refs. They somewhat gave SU limited kudos, but mostly they were venting about the poor officiating. Even the Columbus station said how bad they were.

That chant blows. Almost worse than the u-c-o-n-n chant that those douchebags from storz do.

I happened to randomly see my father in one of the bathrooms during halftime and as I was walking out he asked me what I thought of the first half. I mentioned how it was physically impossible for Aaron craft to have no fouls and one ass head Ohio state fan says to me "because he plays a real defense". I then proceeded to pinch his cheek and say to him "and I didn't even wash my hands". Got a big laugh from a bunch of people standing in line.

Most of the people I have talked to, who saw the game, agree that the officiating was horrible. Also, agree that 4 turnovers in 6 possessions near the end did not help. I think that the officiating took SU out of it's offensive and defensive rhythms as they were too tentative because of all the whistles.

Had it IN THE GARDEN. Sat next to 2 UCONN fans/grads and the Rivals writer for BC. They thought SU was getting hosed DURING the game.

I wonder if that was the same guy who said that to me before I threatened to drag him back to Ohio by his neck. I hope describing him as bald isn't too unPC for some of our posters.

Probably saved lives by not showing replays. Refs would have been dead men walking!!

Follicley Challenged I believe would be the PC term.

I'd be careful. You might be labeled as a racist bastard.

We make our lay-ups, and the refs don't matter.

While that is possibly true, it also means we could have won in spite of the refs if we did what we had to do. But you should not have to win in spite of the refs. I made a mistake last night by re-watching the game. It was worse than it was live. For those that say "what if" Sullinger didn't get called for that 2nd foul. Well if he didn't get called for that, he would have been on the floor to maybe commit some other foul for his 2nd in the half. It wasn't close to even folks. Watch it again if you dare. We had multiple guys taken way for their game but some dismiss that.

My TV and phone almost died while watching live...I am positive they would not survive if I watched it again. Then I would have to buy a new TV and phone. Look I just saved over $1,000!!!

I like Mason's posts and I respect him as a great contributor to this board, but I really have to disagree with him about what I consider the major difference maker was in that game. Probably the worst officiated game that I've ever seen.

Ya they screwed up the last few possessions of the game, but the way I look at it our primary game winning approach that has been a key to our success this season, our aggressive defense, was totally taken away by very questionable calls early in the game. That is what neutered our game.

Hard to play defense when the refs are blowing whistle after whistle on plays that we were never whistled for in 30+ previous games. I'd guess we lost out on a number of possessions plus giving OS numerous foul shots that they never should have gotten. The way that game was called early signaled our team that playing anything near our normal defensive intensity was a no no with those refs. We adjusted and it killed our normal defensive game.

The refs were a major factor in deciding who won that game.

I love the Orange, but I'm by no stretch of the imagination blinded by orange colored glasses. A number of my friends..a Maryland grad and a couple of Missouri grads, agree that it was one of the worst screw jobs that they've seen.

I'm not bitter and I'm old enough where losing a basketball game doesn't send me into depression and despair. I think I'm pretty objective about how that game played out.
