I think he might have the highest ceiling of any WR currently on the roster.

That said, he might have the most work to do of any of the scholarship WRs on the roster in terms of getting physically ready to play at this level.

I think there are some parallels with Taj in terms of physical skills. Though Taj was far ahead as a true frosh.

Believe he started 9 games and got a lot of catches and yards his true frosh year. Taj was unbelievably successful early in this career at Syracuse, especially for a player who played QB in HS so much.

High School: Rated three stars by 247 Sports.com … Tabbed as one of the top-25 prospects in Virginia … All-State First Team selection … 56 receptions for 1,400 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2019 … Finished his career with 1,900 receiving yards … Two-time team captain.

Has some credibility.

Everyone looks good on their HS highlight tape. Especially the skilled guys.

But I thought he looked special. Just his ability to explode past coverage, cut running full speed, etc. He just looks like he is going to be very hard to cover, especially if he is able to build up his strength.

Wow... are we really going to start criticizing our own players for not weighing enough? Sure seems like we're nitpicking and looking for anything to complain about.

He's a true freshman who has been on campus a whole three months. I think he saw his first game action this week. I'm sure he's working hard to learn the system and improve anyway he can.

It would be nice to see a thread recognizing the young man is a true freshman who has managed to learn the system sufficiently enough to get on the field. That is no small task. I think he's the second true freshman WR to see game action this season. Good job Umari! Keep grinding!

One of my favorite recruits in the class. Has a rare combo of size (height), agility, and athletic ability. Watch his highlights for some showtime.
Is that QB still available?

And, he catches everything that comes close to him as his senior HS numbers indicate 56 rec. 1400 yds. 17 Tds., 1st Team All State Va.

we are just starting to see what Jackson can do after a full yr, Hatcher probably will be no different.

We basically got a couple of 10 second clips from Fall camp; but, didn't the media guys specifically ask who that wide receiver was? Must have flashed some eyes in camp.

Hatcher was my favorite receiver of the class. I think he has really high upside and will do really well here. I though his highlights looked better than anybody we have brought in at WR for a while. Super excited for him. Just a great combination of skills and not lacking in any area other than his current weight/strength i guess. Granted they are just highlights but there are a lot of them with great production. Just looks smooth with good body awareness, good height, good hands, speed, route running ability, body control and can go up and get it and come down with it. I was surprised he wasn't the first true frosh to see the field but i'm assuming that is mainly a strength issue. If he can just gain 10 lbs that would be huge. The funny thing is I didn't think he looked all that light on his highlights. I'm disappointed he's apparently already seen the field on specials enough to use up his redshirt year.

He's from VA so probably will have lots of friends/family at VT game this weekend. I think we'll see him motivated and make some noise...
