I think a conference rival, that's all is short changing the potential here. The schools are similar academically. The schools are regionally located. The student bodies are being pulled from the same locations. The alumni are living in the same locations. The athletes come from the same locations. They have a NE mouthy fanbase unlike the other prim and proper ACC schools. They care very much about BBall and Lax. They lack a FB rival. Who they circling on the calendar? Their HC is a disliked SU alumn. They are a similar caliber program in FB, meaning games should be competitive year in and year out. They really are a perfect fit to be a rival school and not just a conference rival. Hopefully in 10 years, that is the case. I hate that we are being pushed with BC. They are not even close to as good a fit. Both schools are private but they are Catholic, and get their student body from Catholic HSs. They circle ND on the schedule. They are mediocre in FB/BBall and have no fanbase what so ever. They care about hockey not Lax. I think it makes more sense for BC-Pitt to be TG weekend games. Maybe if/when ND/UConn come we can get this fixed to ND/Pitt, BC/UConn, and SU/MD.
