Have to say it once again

I hate to be melodramatic about the fifth game, but I think you're right--this is a pivotal game in terms of how the season will unfold. If we drop it, then we might still make a bowl, but it is really going to be an uphill challenge just to qualify. And if we find a way to claw out a win, we're conversely in pretty good shape.

Lots riding on it.

It will be a tough game.

I want to see a clean and productive performance by the offense, and mistake free play by special teams.

I can handle a loss to L'ville, but I really want to see progress this week.

Early in the season I'm not much of a believer in the "this is a big game" mantra. Especially when we are at best a mid level football program...recently. If you're a pre-season fav to crack the top 10 I can see it.

But...as far as the Orange is concerned, and the effect this game can have on our season, I do think this a make or breaker...BIG.

I think a 3-2 start is respectable, in the could be worse could be better. I didn't think we would ever beat ND. Maryland a bit better than I thought they would be, LVille a bit behind where I thought they would be. S0 3-2 I will take and move from there

I think we all know we probably have to beat NCS, Wake, Pitt and BC. If we beat L'Ville we have a little margin for error.

Don't forget Duke, a winnable game against a school who SU is probably on the same level with right now.

At this point get to 6 wins and everything else is a bonus. Need to get to a bowl for the practices, recruiting, etc. It's clear that the pieces aren't in place for the system that the staff really wants to run on both sides, so I'm not going to be too greedy.

I want a win in any shape or form - but it would be great to see us put it all together and score a bunch vs a very good defense. I'd even take a down tick in self-inflicted penalties.

Yeah, if your goal is six wins.

Want to get to 8, different story.

I hope, but I doubt, that this is an eight-win team.

But, I'll be there every week rooting for the Orange to be an eight-win team!

We're really going to struggle to score points this week, especially against a good Ville D with Broyld and Estime out. I think we'd struggle with them.

Any missteps in the red zone again and we're toast.

I waved bye bye to 8 wins a after the MD loss. Lose Friday, and 7 is off the menu.

We're not running the table in November.

Rock fight.

Everything points to a 17-16 game

Not sure why everyone is sold on Louville D . The only team they played that has offensive potential was Miami. That was an opening night road game with a true freshman QB starting for the 'canes . Murray St. , FIU , Virginia and Wake are no better than CMU. Virginia is a better team than CMU but they don't have a QB and can not score.

That's s good point. They were solid last season, however. But yeah - I could buy the bad offense theory.

I think it's more likely to be a dogfight D game - with our pressure forcing some TO's.

We're like Sybil right now- don't know what face we show come Friday. A solid, mistake-free, wire to wire performance shouldn't be too much to ask. Just can't say we'll see that at this point.

Just feels kind of like the 2012 season. I think this year will turn out better but can't deny some of the similarities.

Lost at MetLife to big name team (USC)
Crushing loss at home (Rutgers 2OT yikes I hated that one)
Close win against FCS team (21-14 Rhode Island)

Hope I'm wrong! Go Cuse! Will be tough without Broyld and Estime. Hope not. Need some guys to step up!!
