One other thought that comes to mind is that on a team that has almost no one who can create their own shots, JB was betting heavily on:
- Lydon stepping up as a creator for himself: hasn't happened and in fact it looks like Lydon has regressed
- Howard/Gillon being able to run the team which based on last year's ff run and Gillon's career should have been a no brainer. Again hasn't happened because Howard for lack of a better word has stage fright when he's facing like for like talent and Gillon can't seem to compete against better athletes 
- Battle being able to slash to the bucket when all else fails: This again should have been a no brainer given Battle's pedigree but it hasn't translated to the college level

So if you're counting three things had to happen for this team to be good and none of them have panned out. In addition the Chukwu experiment has been a total disaster of epic proportions. Not sure if any of this is fixable either. I think JB should just go all in on the press and run 40 minutes of hell... yes we're not good at it but it gets us out of half court sets where we are a total disaster on both offense and defense.
