Slayton was doubled alot
Robinson had a much better game then you realize, really the only guy who beat his man 1-1 and that led to 3-4 big plays on D

Cordy was a much bigger issue than scoop

Lester schemed some guys open in the 2nd half, they ran a wheel route to catch Cordy looking in the backfield, a nice Wr screen coming out of the endzone when we were blitzing

the long runs were not that well blocked, but speed does kill and the safeties took bad angles

the film will help , we rolled into single high on almost every big pass play and i think it was a poorly constructed D on a couple of those. on one we ran zone under and single high and WM ran three guys behind the zone one across the safeties face and its no wonder he was beat he was really covering 3 guys himself.

the last 2 scores we were running mostly zone and the drops were not deep enough, but still Cordy got beat 2-3 times.

bradshaws game not as nearly as bad as i seemed. burned deep and missed a tackle, but one deep ball the safety should have been there. Frederick got burned on the same play too.

We played some press and mostly when Trill was in. thats his game as he got turned when he played it soft.

The LBs were great the 1st half, much bigger issue in pass coverage than against the run. just not deep enough drops and really looking to stop the run sucked them up a bit

the long runs were guys attacking with the wrong should and not trusting each other, lets see that get better

Foster really attacked the run, which also led to a couple big pass plays

the D did create some pressure but few times the play call didnt allow for it to do anything.

very few blitzes but 2-3 resulted in big plays against us

we dropped an INT and had a terrible PI call from being a shutout first half and probably up 40

we ran no stunts on the dline. WM chipped one end all night so in reality double 2 guys so not surprised we didnt get much pressure

I don’t understand today’s DCs. They consistently put their players in a no win situation. Happens in the NFL too. Ward loves to play zone and teams have made one guy cover two receivers the last 25 games. That will only work if you get a lot of pressure. Which will never happen rushing 3 to 4 guys, especially with our talent. A DC should either go balls to the wall or sit back and keep everything underneath. Anything in between in today’s game makes zero sense. Os have evolved so much and Ds are stuck in the 1970s.
