Team is 3-4 so far, with wins over 2 FCS schools.

Quinn is another guy who is MAC bread. He has followed Brian Kelly from Grand Valley State to Central Michigan to Cincinnati. Served as OC/OL coach at all those schools. I think we're still eager to see what our current coaches can do, but food for thought

Unless there is something more going on, For Buffalo to fire a coach that is 3-4 is ridiculous.

Come on they're the College Football Team At New York State! This kind of performance is unacceptable!

;)

Turner Gill has to be available right?

Living in western NY, I have to say I never saw that coming. The AD at UB has proven to have a heavy, heavy hand.

Seems like another delusional AD...unless it's based on something other than W/L

That's one year after losing a high first round pick on defense and the come out of nowhere star running back for the 5-1 SD Chargers.

The offense is still pretty good and they are struggling on defense. Joe Licata is top 30 in passing.

That's nuts.

If Petrino can go back to Louisville, I'd think a guy who (I assume) left on pretty good terms, and let the program to the most success they've ever had, would be welcome back. Unless he'd just rather live in Texas.

I hope we do great with Lester, but if not, Quinn might be a good candidate-Believe he was OC under Brian Kelly and now already in the area

Maybe given our "situation", they've already worked something out with McDonald. Bring us Florida players, any Florida players, no matter the gender.

The way Danny White recruited and spent big money on Bobby Hurley, could see him wanting to get his guy and a star. I think Luke Fickell or somebody like that could get that job. Need a great recruiter for a school like UB. Like SU, not a ton of local talent

UB may take a shot at Nutt or Weis, too.

Jeff Quinn's record as HC at UB:

2010: 2-10
2011: 3-9
2012: 4-8
2013: 8-5
2014: 3-4

20-36 overall

Obviously not great but still it seems like a strange time to fire the guy.
Do they suddenly have a huge chunk of money to buy a high-profile coaching staff?

I guess the team laid down after halftime in the last game.

My kid is good friends with some of the players there.

Doug Marrone has a residence there in place with a college ready staff....Pegula donates

After watching UB for several years and paying close attention to the program I do believe they are ready for a step upward as a program, and they have the backing of the students and school. Attendance has risen, and so have expectations. This isn't the same program it was several years ago. UB's ready to take the next step. They aren't on Syracuse's level yet, but they are heading in the right direction. I'm not upset over this coaching move at all, I have confidence that they have a plan. There's been a lot of spending going towards football and related renovations.

They won't ever be on our level consistently. The system isn't setup that way.

Spending money on a hoops coach makes sense because a solid program can make money and get in the tournament. The same can't be said for football at that level and I think it's going to be a tougher sell to get OC/DC from P5 schools to take the leap on some of these jobs. Look at Diaco for example, if he doesn't do something at UConn in the next 2 years, is he going to get a look from anyone, as opposed to if he had stayed at ND?

yup...spoke to my kid last night and he said the school needed a change in direction.

Where are you staying at U-B.? My son has a house right in front of the South Campus bus terminal and stayed in Wilkerson Hall last year.

Off campus on Main Street with some of my fraternity brothers. Living off campus was the best choice I could have made.
