What did you think of the Heather cox interview of Jameis wins ton last night?

She is getting a lot of flack on social media for asking him 4 questions related to the recent investigation. Apparently she was barred from the trophy presentation as a result.

Honestly, I had no problem with it. The first 3 were absolutely legitimate questions given the circumstances. The last was clearly one she was saving based on how willing he was to answer the first 3. But the kid never expressed anything other than a willingness to answer the questions, and she did her job in asking them. If he had said "I don't want to get into that now this is a time to celebrate with my team..." ...well, I still personally wouldn't care if she asked the questions but I would understand the uproar a bit more.

I honestly think it is a bit of a red flag for his NFL career if he can't understand why this may still be news. Not a big deal, but will definitely be a bullet on the profile. The ACC championship does not exist within a vacuum.

someone should really explain to her that the job is sideline fluff eye candy not sixty minutes.

I'm not a big fan of the question. I don't think she needed to ask it.

I didn't like the last one but I thought the 3 before were fine...it's not like he asked a series of inappropriate questions.

If she thought she was going to get an answer, she should really have her head checked.

I think it's a bit misplaced to be hammering her.I would think they were scripted questions that she was given. She's just doing her job, imo.

pretty sure Winston didn't ban her post questioning, the FSU staff did. They dont want any more negative press, only positive talk, and probable heisman

I thought she did great. You are talking to a kid who has made headlines for a month now for his OFF THE FIELD circumstance. What is she going to ask him about the game? It was a 45-7 game!! FSU should have given the kid some BS-answer to give so he was prepared. How they didn't see this coming and have the kid ready is silly. Winston wasn't prepared for that interview and that falls back onto him and the school.

Once again, the reporter's job isn't to worry about hurting the players feelings, or being a cheerleader for the athlete, or turning a blind eye to the facts. She asked the necessary questions what everyone at home wanted to hear answers too.

I thought she went too far after the first two questions. He obviously was not going to answer the questions to her (or the network's) satisfaction. Drop it and move on to the game. I have no problem with a reporter asking the questions, as it's part of the job. I think it should also be part of the job to exercise good judgement on the spot and realize "OK, I tried twice. I'm not getting anywhere. Move on.".

You can only hide behind the "it's part of the job" excuse for so long.. Remember when Katz ambushed JB on the scandal that shall not be named? JB banned him for over a year because of that stunt. Sometimes you have to be a professional and acknowledge the boundary.

I have no problem with her being barred from the ceremony. It wasn't so much about her, but rather a message to the network. Bad move, guys. Winston was obviously instructed not to provide comments on the situation. Let it go. Another time, another place.

simple Winston got a free pass on the issue. when you look at the whole investigation and how it proceeded it smells.

when the story first broke out I thought it was just a chick trying to get some money and press time, but when you look at the stories that followed that appear to be facts on how the detective did his investigation and his total lack of following up raised red flags.

even meggs said he never looked at that information on how the TPD did in it's investigation in his investigation. I thought meggs said it wasn't her inconsistencies, but her lack of memories in her talks with his office.

Meggs just knew he couldn't get a jury to convict in that part of the country.

Yup. I have no problem with the questions. Stay out of trouble if you don't want to hear them. Or make yourself unavailable. Either or.

I think when a witness is unimpaired and gives different statements and descriptions, it raises a red flag. I have not seen any pictures of him with dreads, which at one point she says her attacker had.

it was a Bonnie Bernstein questioning Roy Williams in 2003 moment...

In this situation I'm ok with the reporter asking 1 or Q's on the subject because they have to. Player sidesteps it. And then they move to something else.

Thought it got a bit repetitive.

I just watched the clip on YouTube. I was expecting something way worse. The first three questions were completely harmless, and the 4th question "why didn't you talk after the investigation" really wasn't that big of a deal.

Seems mild to me, especially compared to Jim Gray.

Heaven forbid we hold our football gods accountable for what they may be involved with. More than that -- heaven forbid we hold anyone in the public spotlight accountable. Heaven forbid we ask questions that may be uncomfortable when we have access to their rarified air.

I don't know what's worse -- FSU banning her from the presentation or fans being in an uproar for perfectly appropriate questions given his last month in the limelight. What's the problem with asking a public figure uncomfortable questions from time to time? Fans feel like everything is wrong with it. Journalists are awful people for asking important questions because they're trying to "tear down" the anointed ones.

We've become a society of star *ckers. It's cool when the media builds them up to dizzying heights, but if they try to ask real questions about an actual important topic they're vultures, and awful, horrible people. Frankly those questions were softballs. He was accused of RAPING someone. How are any of those questions not important?

I'm sure the usual suspects here will say "IT'S NOT THE RIGHT FORUM!" When else has any reporter in the last month had a chance to talk to him about this? Now that the investigation is over he should have no problem answering those questions. He won't answer them in any other forum, so you ask them to him when you have the access.

She was doing what her employer pays her to do, and as someone already suggested, I would guess she was given the questions to ask.

General rule of thumb - if you're a reporter, and after an interview YOU'RE THE STORY...you probably did a stuffty job. It really is that simple.

Our people need to freaking relax and not make a "story" out of nothing
