There are close defeats and then there are close defeats. The Houston game was not a game like Texas last year where we put up a solid fight then petered out down the stretch. We literally had the game won, if not for shooting an entirely free and uncontested shot from 15 feet with unlimited time, at a percentage considered pretty good for three point shots in a live game with guys closing out on you. It is a completely and totally unheard of way to lose. It's like losing a football game off of going 1-8 on extra points and having two guys drop the ball before running in the end zone. If we had only a historically bad day from the free throw line we win. We actually had the #3 team in the country beat if a 6th grade team shot our free throws for us. I don't know what you call that, but it is not in the "moral victory" category. It's not a case of us being close but not good enough. We were legitimately good enough to beat Houston! If not for the equivalent of lightning striking the same place 1,000 times in a row! Ugh. I still just can't believe it. I can't think of a more stressful team to be a fan of than one that looks actually pretty great in most categories, except the easiest part of the game that everyone knows about from their first days playing basketball. We are cursed y'all. To be a cuse fan is to enter the deepest circle of hell, leave, and willingly come back the next day.
