BREAKING: Source says Yankees and Carlos Beltran have agreed to a three-year deal. More details to come.

The deal is for $45M, says @TBrownYahoo. @FeinsandNYDN had it first.

Guy still has a ton left in the tank. Phenomenal post season hitter. Love it for 3 years

does it matter the Yankees wont be in the postseason the next 3 years

I wish the Jays had a fat pocket book.

Need to replace that offense. An outfield of Soriano, Elsbury, and Beltran will produce!! Huge upgrade at catcher and the return of Tex and the offense looks much improved overall even with NO Cano.

Think they will package Gardner and Sanchez in a trade for a pitcher. And I still think Brandon Phillips via trade to NY is a real possibility if the Reds owner gets his way.

@jacko2323: By my count, the NYY have 1 catcher, 3 SP's, 2 major league IF's and 87 OF/DH and the team's median age is 42. I think I'm going to bed.

With Beltran taking over right field duties from Ichiro, the Yankees actually get younger with this move. Pretty funny, actually.

Wonder if Kevin Youkilis is available?

LOL...he and Elsbury don't get along at all. It was a blood feud in Boston. No chance they bring Youk back

Whatever helps you sleep at night.

Screw it, let's just put Soriano back at 2nd base.

he is.
That was a lame humor attempt on my part. He must have made a 1/2 mil per game played. The guy that gives the physical for the Yankees must be Rodney Dangerfield's old doctor Dr. Vinnie Gumba.

I think a bunch of people in Boston believed that Ellsbury wasn't tough enough and that he wouldn't play through injuries.
And Youkilis, who I actually like a lot, is intense to the degree of being a huge jerk sometimes.

I think the truth is (I stress, 'I think') Ellsbury was misdiagnosed with his injury a couple years ago. From that incident on, he's been considered to be soft. He was playing injured this year, including during the WS. I think he's tougher than people think.
Ellsbury isn't a guy who the fans love, like Pedroia or Ortiz or whoever on the Yankees roster. He's not intense; he's not outgoing and vocal. He's a great leadoff hitter and he's fast but he's never going to be a well-liked guy in NY, I'd bet.
