I'm not suggesting it's "ideal" to have JJ at the stripe with the game on the line.  But lots of positive things can happen if he drives.  He could score.  He could get fouled [where he'd have two chance to get the one aforementioned point].  Maybe he scores AND gets fouled.

He could also miss.  But you put the ball in his hands, and you put pressure on the officials to blow the whistle when he attacks.  Other teams get those calls all the time at home.  I watched Ohio State later that night, after our game, and they had a big deficit to West Virginia, but their senior 2-guard got every call down the stretch.  We never seem to have that level of come court advantage.

So you "make" it by letting your best driver do what he does best -- attack the rim.
