LaMarcus Aldridge
SF Carmelo Anthony
PG Chauncey Billups
PF Chris Bosh
SG Kobe Bryant
C Tyson Chandler
SF Kevin Durant
Eric Gordon
PF Blake Griffin
C Dwight Howard
/G Andre Iguodala
SF LeBron James
/C Kevin Love
Lamar Odom
PG Chris Paul
PG Derrick Rose
SG Dwyane Wade
G Russell Westbrook
PG Deron Williams

My choices for the team are in red. It was a toss up between Deron Williams and Chris Paul but I chose the stronger of the two. I would love to squeeze Westbrook in there, he really came up big the last time around. I have Chandler in there as you need a decent back up center.

Barring unforeseen injuries who makes the final cut based on a 12 man roster if you're the coach?

Too long to make up a final roster, but I don't see Aldridge, Odom, Chandler and a couple of guards (Billups among them) making it. Iguodala probably gets cut too.

How many are they taking, 12?

If they are taking 12, and I can take any 12 I want (assuming no one bails, etc), and it has to be from that list, this is my 12, in no order:

Lebron
Wade
Rose
Paul
Melo
Howard
Griffin
Durant
Deron
Love
Bosh
Kobe

Maybe switch Aldridge in for Bosh. It's a little short of outside shooting as well.

Would have to think:

Melo
Bosh
Griffin
Howard
D Wade
Kobe
Durant
LeBron
Paul
Williams
Rose

The last one? Who knows. Maybe Kevin Love or Billips. Have to think those 11 are locks.
If you took Billups that would make 4 point guards. The last time around he served as a steadying hand for the younger guys. I think Rose and Williams are the points I'd go with, they have plenty of experience now to carry the load.

Another big man possibly? Only Bosh and Howard downlow.
That's why I threw Chandler in there even though there are more talented players I had to leave out like Westbrook. You've got to have the bigs.

Completely agree. I would love Chandler on the team. Hes playing great in NY and firsthand I've seen how valuable he is. Plus hes just a great character guy to represent USA.

yeah Chandler would be a fine pick. I am surprised Billups is even on the list, to be honest.

Yea I think Kevin Love will actually make the team. I would have to think that CP3 would be on the team as the "3rd" point guard. Hard to keep him off.

Derrick Rose
Chris Paul
D. Wade
Deron Williams
Kobe
Melo
LBJ
Durant
Blake
Bosh
K. Love
Chandler

I can see D. Wade and Kobe sitting this out because of injuries though. If they sit it out insert Westbrook and maybe rondo?

Howard
Durant (I like him at the 4 in the international game)
James
Bryant
Rose
Chandler
Bosh
Anthony
Wade
Paul
Williams
Love

I know I'll catch heat for not having Griffin on it, he's certainly more talented than Bosh. I just feel his game isn't as suited for international play. Bosh and Love are better shooters and at this point, Chandler is a better defender.

Would have to think:

Melo
Bosh
Griffin
Howard
D Wade
Kobe
Durant
LeBron
Paul
Williams
Rose

That team is freaking awesome. I would add Love.

44cuse

This would be my list as well.

Bosh would be the first I would trade off.

I also think Kobe may be "injured" and sit it out.

I think you go with Chandler, Howard, Love and Griffin @ the 4/5 possitions. Bosh would just be lost in the mix with all the firpower at the 2/3 possitions. I want bigs who rebound, block shots and defend the basket, Love's shooting is an added bonus but he is also a beast on the boards.

I'd probably go:
PG: Rose, Paul

SG Wade, Kobe + add the best knockdown shooter you can find that can also defend.

SF: Melo, LeBron, Durrant

PF: Love, Griffin

C: Howard, Chandler

I like the flexibility at the 2,3,4 possitions. If shooting is an issue you could play Love, Durrant and Melo as your front line.

If you go this route...I'd go Jason Terry in the shooter role. He's used to coming off the bench and scoring.

Team:
LaMarcus Aldridge
Carmelo Anthony
Kobe Bryant
Tyson Chandler
Kevin Durant
Blake Griffin
Dwight Howard
LeBron James
Chris Paul
Derrick Rose
Dwyane Wade
Deron Williams
Cuts:
Chris Bosh (Jumpshooter. Don't need any more scoring... need tough D inside and rebounding)
Chauncey Billups
Eric Gordon
Andre Iguodala
Kevin Love
Lamar Odom (See Chris Bosh)
Russell Westbrook (If he complains about sharing the ball with one star...)

Jason Terry isn't among the choices given
