Here is your 2017 NCAA basketball committee

I feel like you should have coached, or played to be on the committee. I don't know. Something better than guys who probably watch very little.

I believe Hollis has to leave the room when they talk about MSU. I think it probably works against you. The Duke guy or the MSU guy probably error on the side of not pumping up their school to seem impartial.

I remember Jake Crouthamel having to leave the room when SU was being discussed and he could not vote for them.

But the upside is Jake got to have a smoke.

I disagree because then it would become way too much about the eye test where coaches don't see everybody, and don't see them all multiple times. Way too much bias.

They all have to leave the room when their school is being discussed.

At least there's nobody from Georgetown or UConn. That has to help our cause.

I keep thinking about the "eye test", and how much it factors in for Syracuse. For example, is losing a game to Miami in OT tomorrow any different than losing by 10-12 in regulation? From what I'm hearing and reading, it seems no. I can't help (and I hope I am looking at this without Orange glasses on) but think it matters...to a degree.

I agree. I'm sure most of them are smart accomplished guys but they aren't college basketball experts so they are essentially taking a cram course and trying to pick the best teams based off of statistical data more than watching the actual games. Give me a committee of basketball junkies that watch a ridiculous amount of college bball.

Sure but everyone knows that guy is coming back into the room. You have to feel like a borderline team is going to get the nod if they are represented on the committee.

I'm sure they take it seriously being on the committee. Wildhack would be an awesome future choice.

I don't doubt that they do but they have plenty of other responsibilities an can't spend 4-6 hours a day watching basketball which people choosing the field should be doing. I'm not even saying they do a bad job, just saying the people choosing the field should be specialists.

Not just their school but any school in their conference and they can't vote on that school.

From the NCAA web site:

Conference representatives cannot be in the room when teams from their conference are being discussed for inclusion, nor are they allowed to vote for them. Same goes for a school representative, who cannot participate in or vote for their own school.

Committee members are assigned to conferences to monitor play throughout the season.
