Job description

Reporting to the SVP of Marketing and Communications, the Executive Director of Marketing Strategy serves as one of the lead Marketing Strategists for the Marketing and Communications Division with the goal of advancing fundraising and alumni relations goals. A strategic-thinker who can translate big-picture marketing vision to implementable operational plans, this individual is a dot-connector who must understand how all of our marketing efforts can work together to build our brand and goals on behalf of the Advancement team. The ED is the University's most senior lever marketing professional responsible for partnering with the Advancement and External Affiars team to understand their business plans, in order to develop marketing plans and then lead a team in driving those plans and all of their elements from concept to completion. A modern marketer, this individual thinks in a holistic way and knows how to bring together channel owners, creative producers and communicators together to develop and implement effective marketing campaigns. These campaigns should leverage research insights to drive tangible, measurable fundraising results. A problem-solver, the ED ensures hundreds of projects stay on-time and on-budget. With an ability to spot and mitigate potential issues, this individual is incredible at building and managing relationships and is a master at mobilizing resources to meet goals. With a high-degree of emotional-intelligence, the ED works ensure the team is positioned as strategic marketing partners with deep understanding of how to orient marketing activities to drive fundraising goals and objectives. Serving as a key member of the Marketing and Communications Sr. Leadership Team, the ED may be tapped to play the role of lead marketer on special projects. Regularly provides excellent counsel to MarComm Sr. Leadership. Has a deep understanding for contemporary approaches to brand stewardship. This individual will be called upon to interface with committees and donors and to speak articulately and effectively on behalf of the Marketing Division.
