It was very convenient for me as an older female who comes alone to games. I didn't need to rent a car which is an additional expense. I have Marriott status and lots of points saved up, so for big games I used my points. I got breakfast and happy hour food. It will be a hardship for me. On some of the really big games, it is hard to get an uber. I was meeting someone who is very well known on this board, and she was staying at a Carrier Circle hotel, and waited over 2 hours to get an uber for one of the Clemson games. I have stayed at some very nice Carrier Circle hotels, but without a car it is not doable and rental cars are much more expensive than a hotel room. Also it was a safe place to meet for drinks. Oh the people on here and others who I hung out n the bar with after games and events. The staff knew me, and I always had a premier room. I was already thinking of starting to cut back on my Syracuse trips, and this is what will end up helping to make that decision. 
This is not a surprise to me. It was part of a plan announced several years ago.
