Common sense, or my version of it, says the foul stops the clock and continuation allows the basket to be made with the game clock stopping at the foul and the shot clock becoming irrelevant.
 
Could it be that they rule even though the foul happened prior to the shot clock running out the ref did not fully call the foul until after the shot clock ran out?  Kinda like when a timeout is granted being the relevant factor not when it was called.
 
I would have appreciated this discussion by the commentators. 
 
Sorry if this has been covered - I didn't find this answer looking through the site, google & tweeting to PSBasketball & Jay Bilas.  I know we are moving on but I am interested in knowing if some wierd rule exists or it was merely missed.
