I wonder if McDonald could bring along one of these two...

4. Stacy Coley, WR
Stacy Coley is a wide receiver from Oakland Park, Fla. He is a 4-star recruit and a solid target to move the role left by departing senior Cobi Hamilton’s.
Coley visited Miami officially in December. It is possible he had contact with now former Arkansas wide receivers coach George McDonald while McDonald was still at Miami. McDonald’s departure could pose as a problem in obtaining Coley’s signature.
Fortunately Bielema has enlisted a top recruiter in new receiver coach Michael Smith.
Hopefully Smith will be able to land Coley and shore up the Hogs’ passing attack in 2013.

1. Alex Collins, RB
Alex Collins, a running back out of Florida, was one of Bielema’s primary targets while he was at Wisconsin. Former receivers coach George McDonald also met with Collins, and it was expected that McDonald would be a key factor towards landing Collins’ signature.
Arkansas lost running backs Dennis Johnson and Knile Davis this season. Jonathan Williams is poised to be a breakout star, but there is always room for a quality running back on an SEC team’s roster.
Collins would be a 5-star recruit and has the potential and the opportunity to make an impact for the Razorbacks in 2013. Bielema has worked hard his first several weeks as head coach at Arkansas to lay the foundation for the Razorbacks to be an SEC powerhouse. A 5-star running back could be the piece that ties all of Bielema’s effort together.

I have Hayes for 2/1. Will update Davis

Kendall Moore picked up an Oklahoma offer as well.

I like where we sit with Hays ... not 100% but I like our chances.

I have nothing to contribute to this thread other than that there is a lot going on for a new staff with such short notice. These guys are fiends.

Kendall Moore visit confirmed for 2/1 per the Chicago Tribune.

Tribune also says Spearman is right now scheduled to take an unofficial visit to Iowa this weekend and has not ruled out another official visit next weekend. Is considering Syracuse so I'd suspect (hope) we'll be able to get that visit next weekend with his teammate.

This is nice info Phat. Good work.

I am interested in trying to figure out what the staff is looking for in terms of positions for the remaining scholarships.

What do we have now, 6 open spots?

I know the staff told one of the WR recruits, I think it was Winfield, that they were taking one WR in the class. Though they might make an exception for Cooper, given how good a prospect he is.

I think the old staff wanted to take one OG and one OT. Looks like the new staff wants the same thing. OG: Hayes/Hunter OT: Moore

We definitely want to take a QB to replace ZA. Mitch Kimble/Todd Porter

We want to take at least one RB. Augustus Edwards/Laray Smith/William Stanback/Nico Gambil

We want to take a DE/OLB type. Malik Brown/Ramar Dennis/Reggie Spearman.

We want to take a CB. Deonte Davis/Brisly Estime

And we want to take a safety. Duron Singleton/Simeon Thomas

Like all of those recruits... Should close this class much stronger than I anticipated 3 weeks ago.

(Aside from the early enrollees) What gives with the the previous commit list given no one has signed a LOI , verbals visiting other schools, all these new names, a new HC and assistants? What happens if a new name whats to come to SUnow and is seen as better than a previous verbal by the new coaches, if a previous commit doesn't re-commit, etc. What can be counted on and what's in the air? Previously LOI'day has some suprises but this year should really be a bigger whose coming unkown day.

The good news about Hodge and certainly Provo - is that there's been no information coming from other schools either. Not even a sniff of visit to somewhere else. Most schools would leak that to their rival/scout sites.

Malik Brown I'm 99% certain he's sticking with Syracuse.

So am I but there are a ton of vultures circling him right now. If one of those coaches pulls the right strings I could see him flip.

Great breakdown and I agree with pretty much everything. Rutgers flipping Carter does scare me a little, but hopefully Shafer being a D guy and having his position coach in tow now will give him a little reassurance. I'm totally with what you said about Laray going from 100 to 80% in another thread and think we still get him.

I think the ideal class would look similar to this:
QB:
Wilson (solid)
Kimble (we are in top 2)

RB:
Edwards (FSU will be tough to beat)
Smith (good chance)

WR:
Winfield (solid)
Cooper (He is visiting so that is good)

TE:
Provo (pretty solid)

OL:
Burton
Miller
Hayes (good chance)
Moore (may be dreaming)

DL:
Williams
Trejo
Johnson
Brown (up in the air)

LB:
Arciniega
Kirkland
Hodge (pretty solid)
Carter (hopefully solid)
Spearman? (I think we take him, if he wants to commit)

DB:
Kelly
Estime (good chance)
Thomas (up in the air)

I am not sure if we would be able to take all 23 of these guys. This IMO would be an absolute excellent finish. We'd have very good HS prospects who have other solid offers along with JC guys who can fill holes immediately.

I am not optimistic this will happen, but i can dream.

are you suggesting purse strings?

My guess is that both of these issues are pretty fluid given the coaching change and the academic status of some of the kids we're pursuing. I mean, you'd have to figure that some of these kids have to have some academic issues which may be having an impact on their offer lists (like the 4* kid committed to ECU just seems a bit strange). It's pretty standard practice to try and get a commitment and then try to stash them at Milford and hope your relationship stays solid for a year and they make the requisite academic progress.

Also, you'd have to figure there's a player or two we don't know about who may be gone due to the coaching change or something of that nature. So I could see them signing 6 but I wouldn't think it'd be a surprise if we took as many as like 9 or 10 provided we could actually get the commitments.

Per Dohn's twitter Gus canceled one of his remaining official visits.

Considering Miami's new hire and RU's OC or lack there of, I'd guess he cancelled Rutgers.
