He obviously has been pretty subpar on defense, but I don't know if it's fair to call that "below expectations."  I watched him a handful of times when he was at Nova, and his defense was [I]really[/I] rough in most of those games, and I think even those that were really excited about him joining the team recognized that may be an issue.  I think a lot of us were hopeful that the zone would mask some of those defensive issues.  In hindsight, that may have been wishful thinking.

All in all, he's probably right at expectations, if maybe a bit below hopes.
