[QUOTE="IthacaBarrel, post: 5434751, member: 363"] Kind of all depends what the instructions pre race were and usually the trainer deals with this type of stuff after they discuss with the owner. You never know what the instructions were but what always irritates me was a jock who didn’t listen or who didn’t ride hard for 3rd and 4th place. Those checks come in handy every month. Most of the big jocks really don’t care unless you are some huge owner or trainer. Never minded getting beat for the most part as long as trainer/ jock had a plan for the race and if it didn’t pan out then so be it, sometimes things just don’t work and I get that and you have to at times. Always like jocks that gave you good honest feedback about your horse after a race, the only way you learn and try to improve the horse. You may not always like what you hear but the truth helps! Not all jocks will do that but some are great at it,expectional really. Some just have just a great feel for a horse You have to remember the trainer is with the horse 7 days a week they usually know best if you have the right one but I very rarely buy when a trainer says that they told the jock to just go out and ride the horse, 9 times out of 10 it’s BS. I think Kenny mcpeek/ Brian Hernandez that’s probably true but that’s about it with a few exceptions obviously.Like I said was Rispoli following instructions by not tipping the horse out earlier or was it just a horrendous ride. I just don’t understand why he didn’t ride the horse like he was best in race because he clearly was, only way he loses if speed horse gets loose on the lead which probably wasn’t going to happen or he gets the horse in so much trouble that he can’t overcome it, which he very nearly did.
