How ACC Schedules Are Built

I still hate the fact that we have to play on a Friday...

Big issue down South...not a real issue in CNY. HS games evenly split between Friday and Saturday
I get that. You are right that it's a big issue down south. A lot of Clemson and FSU fans aren't happy. I just feel like it makes the ACC look like a mid major conference. Maybe it's just me...

10 years ago I'd completely agree. Now, primetime TV is king. Whenever you can get a Nationally Broadcast contest, take it. Hell, I'll take a Thursday if it means we'll be nationally broadcast. Who needs to work on Friday!

Now, Clemson is obviously not worried about being nationally broadcast because you're going to be no matter when you play for the most part, currently. For Syracuse, it means more.

Also, I can go to Friday night games and not Saturdays. :)

Im with you. College football is a Saturday game. But TV and $$$ rules.

We understand...HS Football is king of Friday nights down south...not as much a factor in Upstate NY. Friday night is the new Thursday night...the NFL is taking over Thursday. Friday game means at most you might have 1 or 2 other games competing with you on lesser channels (FOX RSNs, cbscollegsports, etc...)

Great exposure for teams like Syracuse, BC, Louisville, UNC, UVA, NIT St, etc...not so much for Clemson and FSU. A real head scratcher why FSU is hosting a game.

NFL plays Thursday night games. I like them. Prefer that over a Friday game. But such is life.

I understand, but honestly, how many people are watching the Thursday Night NFL game if it's not their team?

I know that unless it was a marquee game, I never even considered the NFL's Thursday nighter, and I like football. Like alot.

How many people watch SU on Saturdays if it's not their teams? At least on Thursday nights you're the only game on.

I'm not saying SU is going to compete with the NFL. All I'm saying is if you get a nationally televised Thursday nighter you take it regardless of whatever NFL game is on.
