I think Babers likes the idea of the Dome and turning a program around that has been down but has some meaningful history. I think he wants his story to be a redemption story.

This could very well be true. His mentor Briles stayed at Baylor and had no intention of leaving despite a lot of interest from bigger schools (until the awful sexual assault stuff came out, of course, and he had to go).

I remember he's said that Briles told him about taking jobs nobody wants and making them into a better job. Maybe I'm dreaming but hopefully that means the big ticket jobs aren't as appealing.
