Two guys that you would figure to be more likely at Wolffs at 9am watching soccer, at least by their names, Sterling Hofritcher and Andre Szmyt, than killing it on a football field, have turned in two great performances each so far.

Those guys give this team a real competitive advantage.

They're doing wonderfully and SU will see exactly what they have in Szmyt when he misses a few, maybe in a row and how he bounces back from that. The kickers that put the past failure(s) behind them are the really good to great ones.

Inevitably, they'll botch a play because kicking a football is an imperfect art, but Szzzmt coming out of nowhere and looking like he knows what he's doing is obviously an enormous surprise, and going into the season we just needed Hof to be Hof.

It does look like we have players we can trust at those spots, and they have a lot of eligibility on the clock.

Didn't Dino do well on specials at Bowling Green as well? No doubt, getting ACC type athletes changes the world on special teams.

Absolutely. I remember when our special teams play rivaled any team in the country. We were Beamer Ball before there was Beamer Ball.

It's not hard to remember yesterday.

We have two excellent kickers and some great gunners on the coverage, (it's too bad the new rules won't let them do their job on kick-offs). And let's give credit, too, to the snapper and the holder. if they aren't perfect the kicker isn't going to be perfect, either.

I wish Szymt had kicked that field goal attempt at the end of regulation against FSU last year.
