Since you cared more about football than our basketball team?!?! It's been a while since I've cared about college football altogether when our team failed 3 wins a year. I now check that board before I check bball. Don't get me wrong, we will win a ship, but I still am more interested in football!!!!!

Pace agree For me i don't care much about hoops it boring and regular season is pointless... March is fun but a nice fall college Saturday with my beloved Cusefootball is what I yearn for... Very excited for spring practice

Syracuse football trumps everything. It trumps the Yanks, it trumps the Giants, it trumps SU basketball. And don't get me wrong, I live and breathe SU basketball (along w/the Yanks and Giants) but there is absolutely nothing better than football Saturdays. The Grob years were torture, absolutely torture. I don't wish ill-will on anybody but I will always despise that clown for destroying 5 years of football Saturdays.

I rarely read the BBall board any more. I watch the FB games in person and then again on DVR. Even at the FB teams lowest point (prior to the 2008 season), I still cared about FB more. Although it didn't hurt that the 07-08 BBall team wasn't that good. The last time I cared about BBall more was the 95-96 season.

Syracuse football will always be #1 with me. I'm really enjoying the basketball season this year -- as always. But I'll take football over BBall every day.

Since I was raised on both SU basketball and football with seasons to both since the early 60's, I don't care about one more than the other. Of course if one is fighting for a conference or national championship while the other is average, I get more excited for that team at the time.

Never have or will. Always a bball fan first.

Stating the obvious but I feel our football fans are more... appreciative of this basketball season's success than some of our hoops-only friends.

I love them both and don't see a need for there to be a rift, as much as basketball-only fans drive me insane.

Right on. I actually LOVE ALL SU SPORTS, it doesn't matter to me what the sport is, it's SU and I love SU.

This town is fair weather and I don't buy hoop fans only because they are usually the bandwagoners if su had 7 losses right now you wouldn't hear stupid fake fans on social media or at games

I care about both equally. Obviously, during football season I spend more time thinking and reading about the football team. During basketball season, I spend more time thinking and reading about the basketball team. I don't understand the Football VS. Basketball pissing match. I will say that I spend absolutely no time thinking or reading about the lacrosse team :).

Tend to agree. There are boatload more fair weather hoops fans than I ever remember having in the past. Problem is they disappear off the face of the earth around May/June...only to reappear in January.

I 98% agree with what you said

Football hasn't been equal since Freeney left, so that's a decade, roughly.

There's something about the McNabb era that holds high in my memory and my absolute die-hard love for SU football.

I also love all SU-everything. , I'm obsessed with oranges. True story.

Football drives the bus! all year long. Basketball starts with Conference and Quality OOC games!

Su football all the way. My favorite memories are making the trek to the Dome with my father for SU football games. We had seasons for basketball as well, but football always felt special with the tailgates, the pagentry, etc. It's been tough over the last 8 years or so, but I still wouldn't trade it for anything. I still get back for two or three games a year, and still make sure I get there with my dad.

I love 'cuse bball and have been to every big game the last 5years! That said, I'm confident the football program is turning around. Let's be reaL, we were a bottom feeder for the G-Rob era! Something has changed.. We were competitive and could have won 9 games last year. That is more encouraging than I thought. I thought marrone could get us, eventually to perennial 8 game winners. It's happening faster than would be normally reasonable. If I had a million to donate, I would do it. We are coming back, and marronne/Wheatley/shafer are a godsend... And I'm agnostic.

More encouraging than anything is that we are offering 4* before they are rated that high! Give Marrone a 3 year extension and make Shafer AHC! Then let Wheatley develop more this year and make him AOC of running game to keep him here another 2-3 years. Adkins is obviously doing well leading us in the recruiting stage. Just wish we had a guy that could get us over the edge!

Feel free to disagree with certain points.. But the fact you have opinions further solidifies my point.. We are almost back! And that in and of itself is exciting!

So close but has to be SU Football. I remember being about 4-5 and going to games with my Dad. Our day usually started at the Varsity and ended with my a trip to Columbus bakery to pick up a hot Loaf shared on the drive home with a stick of butter. There was nothing better than that bread especially after a game that was cold and damp. One other thing i will share that when i was young my father always told me that if we got seperated to "meet him at Lincoln" Years later my Sister became very sick and my Dad wanted to discuss her situation so i was to come home. I asked him where he wanted to meet as he worked on the Hill. His answer was to Meet me at Lincoln.

As to Basketball my best memories outside of Manley games was listening to the games on the Radio. There was nothing better than being with my buddies huddled around the radio listening to Joel Marinos call a game. "Up the invisible ladder" Tommy "brain tree" Stundus, Whatever Joel was pure magic.

Still in the end the whole Football experiance is what i live for and hope that Doug can bring this team back to the point of having it again. With the ACC on the horizon there will be new memories to forge. Im really looking forward to each spring and fall just like when i was 4 now about 50 years ago.

By far more interested in football. I still follow basketball (ie. every game, every recruit, etc) and even though we're #2 in the country, I'd be at least 2x more excited if our football team was #2.

Love them both with a passion, but football games are bigger "events" and the fall atmosphere is hard to match.
