I'm an Alumni, 07, G09', and don't have season tickets. Will the school make tickets available to alumni who don't have season tickets?

I was hoping to score some F4 tickets once I get there, but am nervous about arriving without tickets in hand. From people who've been to the F4 before, how easy is it to get tickets once you arrive down there? How would one get tickets before Saturday's semi-final? I imagine it would be easy to get them for Monday's game, you've got two other fan bases who would love to sell you their tickets.

I'm planning to possibly stay at a camp-site and bring a tent to save on hotel costs, but don't most ticket transactions happen at hotels?

Any tips or tricks?

If we make it to NOLA, I've got it all planned out. Fly or drive down from Binghamton area, and camp out at a NOLA-area camp-site to save money on hotel costs.

If you want to sit lower level then it can be a tough ticket to acquire especially for the Saturday semi-finals...if you just want to get in the arena it is a piece of cake shouldn't have to pay face value...the SuperDome is huge...Monday night championship game tix are even easier - cheap and plentiful.

I went to the '93 (Webber TO) and '03 Final Fours in New Orleans no problem with tickets either time...

Flights into the area are the toughest part of a Final Four trip. In '03 got on the charters offered by the university..in '93 flew into Baton Rouge and took a Greyhound to NO (that was an experience...)

Are you going whether SU makes it there or not? If you are not, please end this discussion now.

Did you buy tickets before you got there, or did you get them from scalpers?

FYI. Campgrounds are very hard to come by. Because of the low water table and so many people actually live in them. I had a real problem locating a site when I took a trip across the U.S. Also, like Orange46R said airfare is always the biggest problem. Good Luck.

Why would I go to the final four if Syracuse isn't in it? If they win the Boston regional, of course I'll go.

The KOA campground in New Orleans Area still had tent sites available. I was able to procure a reservation on a motel near the Airport for $100 a night...but it is a one or two star type motel (going without wifey is saving me big motel expenses :p) . Motel rooms should see some cancellations over the next few weeks so my advice is to book now but keep looking but a better deal/locale/quality stay.

Orange46R was correct that you should should be able to find tix around the team motels. I scored one within 3 mins upon walking in the Marriott for face value in 2003. If UK doesn't make it will help on tix availability as they travel like locust. If you are just looking for 1 or 2 tix I would just show up on Friday and Saturday and start looking. Pretty hard to buy a counterfeit as the tickets are fancy with detailed embosed emblems.

If you are a member of the SU Orange Pack you should be able to buy a package of game tickets for the semis and final, with hotel arrangements, bus transfers, etc, from the University, but they will be expensive. Unless you are a major contributor to the school, your tickets will likely be in the upper deck, but still those are not bad. I was up there in '03 - about 20 rows back in the upper deck near midcourt - and had a great time.
If you don't mind missing the semi-finals, you can buy tickets for the final on the street after the semi's fairly cheap because many of the fans from the 2 teams who are eliminated on Saturday will all be selling their tickets for the finals, checking out of their hotels Sunday AM and heading home early. This is especially true of one of the elimated teams in geographically close to NO since much of their fan base will be driving and can make fluid last-minute escapes from town if they are eliminated in the semi's. But that means (unless you live within driving distance of NO) you need to either be in the vicinity of NO at the time or be willing to fly in on Sunday before the Monday finals, and getting flights on short notice can be an issue.
In '03, after 'Cuse beat Texas and after Kansas beat Marquette in the semi's, the fans from UT and Marquette were selling their tickets outside the NO Superdome immediately after the loss, for face value or less. Also those who drove (mostly fans from Texas) or could change their flights to leave early were checking out of their hotels early and many were still in the process of selling their tickets Sunday, so all of a sudden a glut of tickets for the final, and hotel rooms, were availalbe. Most of the Marquette fans were stuck in town with non-changeable flight tickets, but some of them were selling their tickets for the final, anyway.

But, they are going.

GD...I hope so, but I am one of those fans that gets nervous about jinxes and putting carts in front of horses.
