Wouldn't a lot of our problems be solved if we decide to huddle? Hickey said the offensive line was having trouble communicating because of the noise, which led to more then a few blown assignments. Hickey actually said he had to guess on a few occasions. Same thing goes for the WR's who also said they were having a tough time picking up the plays. It's not like we were running an uptempo offense as it was, so why not just huddle up and make sure everyone is on the same page? Obviously the no huddle offense was a main part of the problem. It seems like an easy fix , and something that caused unnecessary communication problems.

I think the issues were they could not make the correct calls once they got to the line.. but there is no way that that crowd was louder than what we saw at Mizzu last year so why they struggled so much is a bit confusing other than the new group playing together for the first time did not instinctively do the correct things that only game prep can fix.

Definitely agree. This should have been addressed at half time. What's the point of running a hurry-up if every time you snap the ball there's 1 or 2 seconds left on the play clock? Just huddle-up and get everyone on the same page. I'd rather move slowly and efficiently than swiftly and erratically.

yea feel the same way snap was coming real late in clock thats not what we call hurray up. wish we made better adjustments on O side of the ball...

No doubt it could be an easy fix. But (and this prolly sounds a little stupid), do we know if we even practiced huddling? It makes it hard to just be like, we are going to huddle b/c our offensive substitutions were not crisp either and that is just begging for a procedural penalty if it hasn't been practiced.

Will be interesting to see how the offense looks for Northwestern and if the huddle becomes something or they look to go quick and can actually go up tempo.

Don't forget the other benefit of running no-huddle, which is keeping the defense under pressure and limiting substitutions (I recall rule changes being discussed to minimize this, but don't know what was actually implemented). Even if it takes us the full playclock to get things called, the D has to be ready for us to snap the ball at any time. The speed of the no-huddle will come with more experience running it.

Honestly, I blame the offense play calling stuff on McDonald. He has to communicate better what he wants. Allen didn't seem comfortable at all out there. The WRs didn't know what the hell they were doing and that last INT was because Allen thought the WR was running out an out pattern and the WR thought he was running a post. The huddle would actually help this team as we could have a player if necessary sub in with the play and get the team rolling. I would hope Allen will wear an armband with the plays and we have a couple of decoys send the play in the future.

what the hell are we gonna do when we play a real road game. crowd noise please.

maybe they should script the first 10/15 plays.
