Come rain, snow, cold and sleet these folks delivered all season. Whether you wanted a burger, mac & cheese, chicken wing dip, jello balls, hot apple cider, craft beer, chili with corn bread, chocolate covered pretzels or a delicious SU Orange & Blue cake it was there for you.

Jeremy, Nel & family always arrived early & left late. Setting up canopies, grills, tables. Making sure there were plates, bowls, utensils, napkins, paper towels, condiments, they left no detail out. All week Jeremy organized and lined up folks to bring various items. Yesterday, I know they came up short fund wise and bet that has happened before.

Family, we just want to take this time to let you know how much we appreciate everything you do for the Fine Mess.

Nel & Jeremy's mom are like mother hens making sure all their chicks are happy. Jeremy's dad is always there for support and helping set up & tear down. Then there's Jeremy's acerbic Don Rickles/Jackie Mason brand of humor.

Honorable mention goes to Cuseregular who couldn't make it to all of the tailgates but when he did was lights out. For those 12:30 starts Mike gets up at 5 AM to start preparing the breakfast sandwiches. If you ever looked at the side of his grill there are dozens of over easy eggs waiting to slide into ham & cheese sandwiches. Each one has to be cooked individually about 5-8 minutes. Mike always provides adult beverages at his impromptu bar & grill. His better half Kim does up fretta that would make Poodles & Jim's mouth water. Kim & Jeremy's mom don't even go to the games yet they do so much to make our tailgate the best. Thanks girls!

Tomcat, when he's not golfing also puts in valuable grill time and provides us with burgers, dogs and sausage.

There are others such as Lincolncuse, GOSU96 and Bees who contribute whatever is needed.

Last but not least Texan Mark who doesn't get honorable mention but shares MVP with JC & crew for he is the driving force that has made all of this possible.

Thanks for the great season of tailgating!

PS If I have forgotten anyone I apologize.

Agree. I had the pleasure of attending three Fine Mess tailgates this year, all outstanding! ( Penn State, Clemson, Wake Forest) the cake that Nell made for the Clemson game was an absolute masterpiece. Always a fun time and amazing food. Thanks to all !

Here here!

Thanks to No Nooners I was able to make 3 home(Wagner, Clemson, BC) and 1 away game (Maryland) tailgate this year. Looking forward to even more next year!

Awesome post Dan, thanks for the kind words. Just showed Nell the post and I could tell she was flattered. Glad to hear this seasons tailgate was such a success and that you and others enjoyed the food so much.

I will have a full post tomorrow recaping the tailgate season and all those involved. Thanks again for the kinds words I know it made Nell's day. Thanks for also acknowledging my comedic stylings, if you can make GOSU laugh, you got something special.

yep you da man Jeremy (Nell and your folks are awesome too). How you do it every week to the level you do is beyond me and deserved of reward. The amount of time, effort, $, and work is through the roof (believe me I know). I'm getting to the point where I cant do it with the same vigor after 20 or whatever years we've been doing it (with this group or our previous groups).

So speaking of reward I have two tix to this Saturdays hoops game vs. Binghamton with passes for Club 44 that's got your name on them if you want them as I can't make it as I'll be out of town again up north. So drop me a PM if you're interested.

The board tailgates this year set records for popularity. The bigger crowds put more demands on the people that make things happen, which puts a lot of pressure on them. This includes everyone OE mentioned plus Caz and some others. But no question, Jeremy and Mike carry most of the load and they and their supporting crew/family should be lauded for their efforts.

We are going to try and get more organized next year, set up menus and assign chefs well before the season starts to try and make the process easier, to more fairly share the load for putting the tailgates on, and to try and avoid situations where people make a substantial investment in supplies and do not get repaid for it. This will hopefully prevent people from bringing too much or too little of specific things, etc.

In short, we are going to bring the board tailgating up to ACC standards. Get ready, we are all going to the show next year.

It's easy to make me laugh.

Just remember, 60 minute game.

Thanks for everything you guys do.

Thought games were 58 minutes.

Ha.

Great job by our first string tailgate crew.

Looking forward to finer things next year.

Open invite to Board Posters/lurkers

If you enjoy tailgating and are reliable we would love to have you. We need some Indians along with Chefs.

What you need to do: Have season Tickets, Donate at least $125 to the Orange Club and request parking in Stadium West.

The Fine Mess Away games are such good deals (Block Ticket Purchase) I will add a couple dollar surcharge to help support the home tailgates next year. We were able to funnel a few hundred dollars back to the Fine Mess, Adopt-A-Platoon this year off the Maryland Game.

you, my friend, just renewed my vigor!

Thanks for the kinds word Mike, your the original master chef so were just trying to follow the precedent you already set. As you noted it is a lot of time, work, $ and effort but the fine lot tailgates have become an outstanding event almost equalying the SU game itself (almost). Your right though you can get burned out after doing it over the course of the entire season but like me I am pretty sure come next summer you will be itching for another tailgate and to display your culinary skills.

Once the schedule gets released next year...we need 2 chefs per tailgate. Jeremy/Nell and Cuseregular will be given 2 or 3 games where they have no duties other than equipment set up/tear down. Time for others to step up. Mike and Jeremy...you will each get first dibs on what games you want to be free of chef duties.

BTW, I expect Maryland (Sept 20th) will be our annual board tailgate. Bees do you agree?

Nova is Labor Day Weekend and the only other possibility would be an ACC game in Sept or early Oct. I prefer to do the annual tailgate for a game we have a decent chance at winning.

Thanks for the kind words Tom, it definitely is nice to hear positive feedback and I know that my fiance ( who does 95% of the cooking) really appreciates it. I definitely want to say that people like yourself, Cuseregular, Bees, Caz, lincolncuse, GO, and others who assist week after week are a huge help. The main chefs (mike and myself) couldnt do it without you guys adding that assistance and taking some of the burden off.

I also appreciate you mentioning the discussion we had on Saturday about doing somethings different next year. I thkn yourself and Bees really had some great ideas. Really looking forward to discussing them with Mark and the rest of the "fine mess leadership counsel" and having an even greater tailgate season next year. I think the sky is the limit for what this group can achieve.

Based on the success and the work that went into Clemson, I highly recommend we look into getting catered or at least supplemented with some type of outside place. The board tailgate was a huge success but a nightmare for the chefs I think myself, Mike, Caz and Tom had about 30 minutes out of the 5 hour tailgate to actually tailgate. The breakdown and clean up was also a nightmare.

I agree...pretty sure we could get 100+ folk might look at a catered affair. Collect money via PayPal or check for advance purchase...charge more at the door.

When I did the catered Dino for those 4-5 years you have to get commits early and payment early via paypal. Worked out pretty easy except for those who stiff you after asking to pay at the tailgate.
