It seems to me we are comparing apples to oranges - pro-style vs. dual threat. On top of it we have the benefit of knowing Nassib's last two years and that colors everything - you simply can't unknow it. It is really a question of the style you prefer. While I really love Ryan, I will take a good DT QB every time in the college game. Both are leaders and both have grit. I will take either one in my life boat anytime. Both are smart and, as with most smart guys, are coach-able. Nassib - was the smartest QB we have have in many years. He put us in the right play most of the time, which is one of the most important things a QB can do. He read his hots very well and, while he tried to force throws into small windows, guys with his arm always do that. We forget the ones he made! Nassib was in complete command and was a great leader. In his senior year he really was amazing. The wins against USF and Mizzou were great testament to his leadership. IMO he clearly has the stronger arm. That doesn't mean he can throw it the farthest but, rather, that he can make the tough passes that will be intercepted if not thrown with enough velocity. He was very accurate at intermediate passes but was no threat to stretch the field. This was a great weakness becasue he was also no threat to run. Hunt - is a real dual threat QB, which in today's college game is a great equalizer. There are only two ways stop defenses from stacking the box - stretch the field with long passes or have a QB that can run when the DB's turn their back. Hunt is still learning to throw the long ball but I would argue that he is at least as accurate as Ryan ever was. Terrel misses long most of the time - with Ryan you never knew if the ball was even going to stay in bounds. (It is the main reason IMO that DM passed on him.) Hunt clearly has command of the team and is the unquestioned leader. His prime time cred is pretty amazing for a RS Soph. The team clearly has faith in him (as do I). Hunt still has much to learn with pre-snap reads and hot routes but he is improving rapidly. He took care of the ball much better as the season went along. Part of Hunt's early season lack of success in the passing game was a result of having average receivers playing in an above average conference. As they improved and new guys stepped up, he got noticeably better. If Hunt is going to be the guy to take us to a level higher we should know by the end of the first half of next season.
