So many times someones negative for something (like a herniated disc) and then the imaging shows indeed theres one there.  Lots of reasons for that...

I remember in the spring game during Nunes tenure he got hurt right in front of me and I saw by how he was hurt with the mechanism of injury that he would be fine with only a knee sprain at worst. In the attempt to try and ease his mind a bit I told him what I do and what I thought that he'd be ok on the field post game and he wanted to hear none of it and didn't even respond.

That ended up being what was wrong with him and I remember saying to myself well I guess Troy Nunes will not end up being one of my favorite SU players.  So the point is I can't help but chime in on this stuff and speculating based on educated thoughts and guesses.
