Fine is fired. fair or unfair, the University had to put some distance between him and them. jB made a good statement. It won't stop the uproar but it's a first step. I'm sure the P.R. people will go to work on that starting tomorrow. After the search warrent maybe we are getting closer to knowing the truth. and whatever that is, it will be good to get that out in the open.

I feel the same way, Dash.

This isn't based upon any inside knowledge / info, but I'd rate:

--The prospect that the University engaged in any activity to cover up Fine's abuse of children at ZERO percent

--The prospect that JB had any knowledge of or was in any way complicit of knowingly "tolerating" any of these activities taking place at <1%

--The prospect that JB's comments 10 days ago were entire predicted upon him being extremely confident that Davis was FOS based upon the 2005 investigation, and based upon his desire to contest the allegation that he'd walked into a hotel room and seen Davis in there on Bernie's bed at 100%

Things might come out, and this bizarre case might continue to uncover more dirt, but I'm willing to bet that all of that will reflect negatively on Fine and not JB or the University at this point.

Happy that ties are formally severed.

a day, week, and has it been almost a month saver? The University and JB come off clean...Bernie regardless of guilt is an immoral ass who obviously was willing to take his friends down with him, like JB, even though they gave him unquestioned support.
For my 1,000 post I am pleased that we can now hopefully get back to what maybe a magical basketball season...which will erase the trauma and sadness of the past several weeks. Go 'Cuse!

Well in PSU case it only got worse every day. Hope that's not the case with SU.

Any and every new thing that comes out related to Fine will be reflected on the University. Firing him does nothing. Sandusky wasn't even employed for years and he took down the whole school administration (I know different circumstances but still).

A lot of things can still come out and we all hope they don't: additional victims, any university cover up, any payments made with his university salary to shut up victims or to cover up investigations, his crazy wife stories, etc.

We all felt good on Friday too after NOTHING was happening with the story. Just wait till season finale of OTL next month when they reveal shocking new videos they have been witholding for years! I mean who knows anymore.

i'm no more comfortable right now than i was yesterday. every time i think today is the day it starts making sense, it gets worse. also, as i have said before, i fear these big time investigations because one thing leads to another which leads to another and you never know what can of worms is going to be opened. probably won't feel good for months.

My biggest concern with all of this has been the "cover-up" aspect of things. The Schwartz ESPNews broadcast tonight alleviated much of that concern. The fact that they confirmed that Davis didn't know what to do with the tape so it was never provided to the University is HUGE news. However, As you said, you never know what could be on the horizon for tomorrow but I feel better now than I did 12 hours ago. A lot better.

I feel a lot worse today for Bobby Davis, however. He is obviously a very troubled guy and in my opinion there is no doubt that he was $cked over physically and mentally by both Bernie and Laurie Fine. I hope he gets the best mental health therapists that Bernie Fine's money can buy and that he eventually finds his way out of the hell the Fines led him into. (Re: Lang and Tomaselli, I'm still not convinced that they are telling the truth but I'm certainly not going to suggest they are lying at this point)
